Chapter 1
Lily's POV
Walking to work is always fun for me. It's the only time I have to myself for a bit, even though I have to walk along a highway, I don't care. I put my earphones in and start pumping my favourite songs. I dance around like crazy as I walk not caring who sees. As I near work I can see a crowd of people outside the two sliding doors ( mainly all girls).
" well this should be interesting" I mutter to myself with much distaste.
Trying to get in the doors was a nightmare the police were there! They had to call numerous people just to make sure I worked here just so I could get in! I walk past Crystal who is at the front desk serving.
" hey" I say
" oh hey how did you manage to get inside?"
" don't ask" I giggle the reply as I wander to the bathroom to get change into my work clothes. I work at a hardware store. It's not bad but I really want to do something else. I know a lot about this kind of thing thanks to my dad and brothers, and that's half the reason I got the job.
I wander the isles trying to find someone to help. Finally a customer! The guy is about early twenties, with obvious bleached hair, he's about my height too. " not bad" I think to myself we usually only get old people in so their no fun.
" hi, can I help you with anything?" I say to get his attention. He turns around and OH MY GOD NIALL HORAN! stay calm, stay clam!
" hey, yeah" he paused and just stared at me. At first I thought I had something on my face but tried to keep him talking instead of wondering what it was.
"Yea?"
"...umm I was wondering...umm if you knew anything that...this is going to sound so silly but would you happen to know anything that is sort of easy to build but fun to play with? Geez that sounds wrong! I need a project and don't know what to do, any ideas?"
He looks at me with a 'crap I hope I didn't screw that up' look.I giggle to myself before replying " yea, um what about a push go kart? There always fun to make and 'play with'. I try and not laugh at the last bit but I couldn't hold it in. Niall seemed to think it was funny to so he laughed along.
" sounds good what do I need?"
Niall's POV
I very rarely come to hardware stores, mainly because I never know what I'm looking for.
As soon as I heard her voice I knew there was something about her.
" hi, can I help you with anything?" I turn around
"hey, yeah." I couldn't finish the sentence I just stared at the. She had long brown wavy hair that she had put up into a ponytail. Her face was splattered with freckles and her eyes were so capturing I couldn't pull away. But at the same time I could tell by the bags under her eyes that the smile she was showing wasn't what this girl was feeling. How was she acting so calm? Doesn't she know who I am?
" Yeah?" She said. I only then realised how long I must of been staring a get back to what I was saying.
"...umm yeah I was wondering...umm if you knew anything that...this is going to sound so silly but would you happen to know anything that is sort of easy to build but fun to play with? Geez that sounds wrong! I need a project and don't know what to do any ideas?" I give her a pleading look because I just totally stuffed that up. Why can't I talk to her normally, it's so stupid.
She giggles before replying " yea, um what about a push go kart! They're always fun to make and 'play with'" she says. Is this girl making fun of me? She starts laughing. Gosh it's a beautiful laugh, not high pitched but low and sexy, I can't help but laugh along. What was with this girl she is making me feel funny.
"Sounds good what do I need?" I ask
" follow me we will have to get you some wood, screws, bolts, nuts, wheels and a few other things." She says in a matter of fact tone.
"You seem to know what your talking about" I asked surprised
"Well I should I've worked here over a year, and I've know this place side I was a little girl. Also have brothers and a father, no sisters, so I was always the extra help when I came to making things"
"What's your name?" I ask "sorry you don't have to answer that was rude of me I'm sorry"
"No no it's fine considering I know who you are it only seems fair. My name is Lily" wow, that is such a gorgeous name!
"Anyways, this is the timber yard. I'll just get someone to help you." "Ok" I say as she walks away.
Niall's POV
After getting everything I needed Lily led me to the front counter. We had talked quite a lot while getting everything, I told her the only reason I was here in the area was because the guys and I needed a holiday away from the city, and that we were staying out in Hall Gap, also that the reason i was in a hardware store was because I got dared to make something fun for us to do.
"Okay that comes to a total of $157.80 thank you" she says in her trained register voice.
"Lily, I know it costs more than that. Why are you making it cheaper for me? Is it because of who I am?" I say. Lily shrugs "staff discount. Look I did, yes, because of who you are but not the reason you think. Yes, you are famous. Yes, you have a lot of money and don't need the discount. But you are the best customer I have served in so long and for thats why i am giving you this discount, because your so nice and easy to talk to." Lily looks so sincere as she talks I can tell she means what she says.
"Ok, only this once though. Promise?" I look into her eyes so lily knows I'm not kidding.
"Well if I see you again then I promise not to" god why does she have to be so damn gorgeous!
"Do you need some help taking all of that out to your car?" Lily asks
"That would be nice" I say while picking up the heavy bags. Lily has no problem with the weight, which is rather surprising, for a girl. Did I just say that? I feel really sexist at the moment, because everything lily does a normal girl wouldn't. Then again she isn't normal, that's why I love her. Wait what?! Did I say love?!! No, I mean like, that's why I like her.
When we get to my car I ask her if she'd like to come out to the Gap and help me build it tomorrow, since it was Saturday. Lily agreed and I told her we were staying at Norval. I was about to give directions but she cut me off saying that her best friend lived there so she didn't need them. I gave her my number and told her to call me, lily also gave me hers just in case she forgot to. I said goodbye. All the way to Halls Gap all I could think about is her. Her laugh, her hair, her eyes, her knowledge on hardware that I would never have. Everything about her seems unreal like she is a dream, I hope she isn't...
