FREEZE, DETROIT POLICE-... okay, what the fuck?"
"What's wrong officer, never seen a kid with a gun before?" The child said. She held a straight face while still looking tense. "Put that gun down kid, you don't know how to use it and it's probably not even loaded." Gavin so stupidly said. She moved the gun to aim it at his foot and took a warning shot right near them. He let out a yell as he moved back.
"Not knowing how to use it huh?" She said, holding the ghost of a smirk on her face. She moved her aim back to Markus. Connor took this time to step forward, his negotiator side taking over. "What happened to make you pull a gun?" He asked steadily, taking a step forward.
"Stay back." She deadpanned while narrowing her eyes. Connor took another step towards her, she took another warning shot on the wall right next to his head. "I SAID STAY THE FUCK BACK!" She yelled, making Connor recount his steps. He took one step back, "Alright, alright." She was obviously experienced with this weapon and he didn't really want to find out how experienced.
She picked up the muttering of the words 'watch your language, tough girl' with a hint of a mocking tone. She glanced around the room, "You can take me in for my actions, but you don't get to correct my fucking language." She muttered.
Nines did a scan over the child, this wasn't an Android like they thought. This was a human girl who looked like she could be in middle school. She had dirty blonde hair that appeared to be turning brown with her age, she had dull grey eyes that rivaled his own. She was about 5'3 or more feet tall and weighed about 85 lbs, which was very underweight for a kid her age.
She was skinny but masculine, she wore a jean jacket with a black t-shirt under it with some type of band logo. The strangest thing was that she seemed to not be in the system. No medical records, and no family attachments. He was brought out of his thoughts by Markus speaking, "Why did you decide to hurt these androids?" He cautiously asked.
"What? I wouldn't hurt them. They attacked, I immobilized." She answered. "Why did you pull a gun on him?" Connor gestured to the Android savior. "I came here to speak with someone, apparently security doesn't allowed perfectly experienced maturing adolescences into a building by themselves. I told them I was an Android so I could get in. When they found out I wasn't, they used force."
Connor took in the information while she spoke. She seemed to be in control of herself, unlike most children they dealt with during cases like these. She spoke with a clear voice, no wavering. Almost as if she'd rehearsed this over and over again for the most adequate result.
"And after having to knock out what I consider to be mature adults, when more enter with urgency, you can understand me having a gun on him. And you can't exactly put a gun down from someone's head and not have anyone pull any funny stuff." She continued. It made sense now to them, this was self defense.
She quickly and almost nervously glanced around the large room, "Now if you could please call off your friends with guns to my head, I'd greatly appreciate it." She spoke, her voice wavering only slightly. "You have to put the gun down first, sweetie." Hank spoke. "Forgive me officer, but I don't think I'll be doing that will guns to my head. You're forgetting people get a sketchy feeling when they're being watched. And don't you dare call me that." Her voice cracked a bit. You could tell she respected them, but her patience was wearing thin.
Connor motioned to the hidden officers perched to stand by, they did so and left the premises. "Okay. Now lower your guns." She said, her voice calming a bit as she gained more control over the situation. They all hesitated, "I'd be more inclined to lower mine when I'm sure there are no more death machines aimed anywhere near me." She clarified.
They all shared a glance and lowered their guns, returning the weapons to their rightful place in their holster. She finally slowly lowered hers from Markus' head, but not fully to where she wasn't ready if it became a necessity. "What's your name?" Connor calmly asked, although he already know this information.
"I'm not stupid, I know you scanned me as soon as you came in the room... the name's Remy." She said, her voice cracked a bit. "Okay, thanks for clarifying for the people who aren't robots." Gavin muttered.
She snapped her head towards him. "Excuse me for calling you out on your shit, but an experienced officer like yourself shouldn't be so biased while on duty. It really can effect your work ethic and how society sees you."Nines looked down at his feet to hide his smirk, Hank not doing so well to hide it. He let out a snort, not caring about the glare he got from Gavin. "What? She excused herself and gave you a compliment, said you were at least experienced." He laughed. "She also insulted me." Gavin muttered, much more quietly this time.
Connor decided it was his chance to try and remove weapons from the entire situation. "Would you be so kind to drop your weapon?" He asked. She hesitated, as she glanced over the officers and leaders of the Androids. "...You're Connor..right?" She asked him, with a look of curiosity in her irises.
"I- yes, that's me. How did you know?" He asked, caught off guard a bit, his eyes wide like a deer in headlights. "I've seen you on TV, on the news. You do good work, all of you do." She spoke quieter on the last part, but they all still caught it. That sparked another question in him.
"Thank you, do you recognize anyone else here? Where did you watch me on TV?" He asked. This info would help him learn why she decided to pull a gun on the leader of all android kind. "Sorry, but it's common knowledge that you don't give strangers your home address." "Even if they're an officer?" Nines said, questioning why she wouldn't tell an authorized individual that information.
"Creeps pose as officers to lure people all the time, sir." She clarified. "And I recognize everyone here." She gestured around the room. "How do you recognize us?" North asked. "I've seen you five on TV," nodding to Connor as well. "And I've heard of you three through research." She nodded to Gavin, Nines and Hank.
"I think you're..." She looked at Gavin, "Detective Gavin Reed. You joined the service in... 2027 as an intern and became a full time detective in 2029.. right?" Gavin nodded, surprised that a kid knew this much about him. It was as if she was taking an oral test for school, desperately gripping onto the facts she'd studied for weeks in preparation.
"Yeah, you got it kid." She turned to Nines. "You're his partner... I'm sorry I don't know your name. But you've been working with Reed ever since the revolution ended." She explained. Nines was also caught off guard, he didn't know someone could know that without him telling them personally.
"And you're Lieutenant Hank Anderson, you've solved almost... 300 cases and became the youngest Lieutenant in Detroit history. Right?" She asked. "Uh-..yeah, you nailed the test. Got 100%, kid." Hank said, surprise littered on his face.
"You know we're going to have to take you down to the station, right?" Connor clarified, a little more firm than he'd like to admit.
"I wouldn't have it any other way sir."
