"TWENTY-EIGHT"
----------------------------
I sat under a blooming cherry blossom trees. The light pink and rose colored petals slowly fell to the ground around me as I looked up. Rays of sun glimmered through the gaps in the branches, adding to the aura of perfection. The brightly colored grass scratched the back of my knees as I shuffled into a more comfortable sitting position.
I don't understand why I'm here or how I got here, but it was peaceful. No yelling, no drama. I was no longer a bystander watching my cousin's life fall into place. I wasn't a history teacher or a leader or even a sister.
I was a person who was breathing, living. Taking in all the beauty around me as the wind rustled my hair and the greenery around me. I was away from the chaos of my normal life. I felt warm and bright. I felt happy and loved. Wrapped up in the loving embrace of the beauty around me.
That warmth very quickly shifted to cold. It started on my arm, causing me to look down. There was nothing there, no reason for it to be any colder than the rest of me.
It rapidly moved to my face, my cheek to be precise. I reached up to touch the spot, expecting myself to feel uncomfortable by the strange changes in temperature, but for some reason I felt safe. The cold felt almost natural.
"Lucy." The wind mumbled, brushing through my hair, leaving cold, electrifying traces through the strands of brown.
"Lucy." I heard again.
"Luce wake up." I heard, the environment around me swiftly disappearing, replaced by darkness.
"Just pinch her." I heard the all too familiar voice of Iñaki.
I cracked one eye open, not wanting to be awake yet.
"Do not pinch me Nacho." I mumbled, trying to turn over. That's when the heart warming deep chuckle shocked me into a sitting position.
In front of me, or more specifically beside me, sat Emmett Cullen. His curly brown hair hanging into his eyes, the honey color eyes that made my heart grow exponentially. His infamous smirk gracing his features.
I couldn't believe it. They were in Alaska, why was he here sitting in my room, on my purple flowered duvet? This made absolutely no sense.
"What?!" I questioned, rubbing my eyes with my fists, trying to make sure he wasn't about to disappear when I opened them again.
Much to my surprise, he was still seated right by me when I looked around again. My face contorted into a grinning smile, my face felt like it was about to break.
"You're here!" I beamed, jumping at him in order to wrap my arms around his shoulders and pull him closer to me. I released a relaxed sigh at the sudden contact. The proximity easing everything inside of me that told me I needed him close by.
