"TWENTY-NINE"

----------------------------

"Where is my daughter?!" Charlie groaned, sending me a suspicious look.

"I'm not entirely sure sir..." I replied almost honestly. There was absolutely no way I could tell the man in front of me what his daughter had gotten herself into, but there had to be a way to ease his nerves right now.

"What do you mean? What DO you know?"

"I know that she's not in forks, and that she went cliff jumping this morning, dragging Maggie along with her. It's like they're a package deal." I tried to joke to ease the tension.

"I need to speak with Maggie." He stated, his eyes moving to the house in front of us.

"Of course Chief. Let's go." I nodded, gesturing for him to lead the way. I was a complete and utter suck up, but you gotta do what you gotta do I guess. "I do apologize for the mess though. The kids can get a little out of control when they don't have school."

"Of course." He murmured, obviously not caring and obviously not really listening.

We walked up the short drive way as storm clouds began rolling in. The great Forks rain was bound to start monsooning on us all. That was beside the point right now. I needed to warn my family of what was about to walk into our house in case Emmett hadn't properly said anything.

Charlie incoming. I shouted, using the mind link in hopes of my family listening.

That's what Emmett said. What have you told him so far? Giusy questioned.

Just that Bella isn't in Forks and that her and Maggie went cliff jumping today. Someone else needs to make up the story, I can't do it properly right now.

Well, let's just tell him that she went off to see Edward. Matteo suggested.

Yes, let's tell a father that his daughter just fled the country for a boy. Genius. Nico deadpanned.

Well whatever you say, we're coming right now. Matteo please open the door in like twenty seconds. AND someone please tell Emmett to either go stay in my room or on the kids floor. I don't think Charlie will take to seeing his daughter's ex-boyfriend's brother just chilling in our living room. I instructed as we came up to the door. Before Charlie could reach for the handle, Matteo quickly opened it.

"Charlie! How are you? It's been a while." Matteo beamed, obviously hoping it would get on the older looking man's good side. "I am so sorry to hear about your friend by the way."

"Oh yes. I'm very sorry to hear about Harry Clearwater. He sounded like a wonderful man. He didn't deserve to die." I added, sending Bella's father a tight lipped smile, which he returned.
