"Stop it Ant, you need to go!" Brielle's laughter filled the apartment and myself with so much joy as I tickled her. I stopped and stood up.
"Okay, okay. Am I dressed okay for your father?"
"It's a black t-shirt and jeans, it's a classic." She smiled.
"Can I at least wear a hat?"
"Not in the bar!" I threw my head back and tossed my hat at her.
"Fiiiiiiiiine."
"Man Child." I winked at her and kissed her one last time.
"Hey, I love you. I'll see you when I get back." She bit her lip and pressed her lips against mine again before backing away.
"I love you too."
"Mmm say it again."
"I love you too, man child." We both laughed as she started pushing me towards the door. "He doesn't like tardiness."
"Alright, alright I'm going!" We both laughed, I kissed her one more time before finally leaving.
The smile I had didn't leave my face the whole drive to the bar I was meeting her Dad at. Even after I parked, went inside, and greeted him I was still smiling. It wasn't until he started talking that my smile faded.
"Anthony, you are aware I am a straight shooter. So, I'm going to get straight to the point. I have been told that you have been less than loyal to my daughter. That the two of you had just met in the beginning of June and were apparently married ten days later in a Vegas scandal. Knowing all of this and that you have another woman in your life that you are very serious with, well that gives us only one way to handle this. We only care about our daughters' best interest."
"I'm sorry sir, I don't understand. Your information is ludicrous. I am in love with your daughter and have been since the moment I laid eyes on her. There is nothing I would ever do to screw up the relationship that we have built."
"Yet, you aren't living together."
"We're looking for a place, and just found one that was close enough for both of us to commute."
"Convenient. Anyway, as I was saying we have one way to handle this."
"I don't get a say?"
"We'd like you to stop seeing out daughter. We will have the marriage annulled as if had never happened, you can continue your playboy attitude ways, and Brielle will be able to find someone worthy of being her husband."
"Woah, no there is no way I'm agreeing to that!"
"You don't have a choice. If you continue to see our daughter, we will make sure she is cut off. We both know she doesn't want that to happen." I shook my head no. I couldn't believe what was going on right now. There is no way that this is really happening. My plane crashed right? I'm in a coma or some shit? I just told Brielle that I love her and now this guy wants to pull us apart and is using the connection she needs the most against what we have built. What the actual fuck.
"Sir, with all due respect, I am worthy of her love, I am worthy enough to be her husband. I love your daughter more than anything."
"Right, but according to the P.I. we have hired, the two of you only see one another on the weekends at best, and you're in Tennessee partying it up with your friends instead of being here with our daughter." My jaw dropped, a fucking private investigator, there is no fucking way. "So, as I was saying end the relationship and everything with Brielle will be fine. She will go about her life living by the means she is used to. Her mother and I will handle everything with this divorce so it doesn't go public and is erased completely. We'll just need a few signatures from you in the upcoming weeks, but this ends now. You just hop on a plane back to where ever and don't come back." I was shaking my head again trying to wrap it around this conversation.
