Some people always insist that believing is seeing. As we get from watching movies like Peter Pan when we were kids. But when I was a kid, I had a different experience. As a kid, I was totally into Peter Pan, ya know, as any kid would be into. But it all changed with a simple walk in the park. Literally.
I was about 7 years old when it happened, I was walking through the cherry blossom tree trail in our nearby park. The pink cherry blossom petals were beautifully fluttering about, carried by the cool wind that made my short, above-the-shoulder length hair flow to the right. It was all such an amazing, unbelievable sight under the red, sunset sky.
I closed my eyes to smell the fragrant filled air. When I opened my eyes, I saw a boy right in front of my face. I stared at him and took in his sight. His eyes were a soft brown color. He looked a bit older than me, probably by a year or two. His hair was jet black and silky, very anime-like. He also had a very attractive tanned complexion.
"Umm, hey? Are you okay?" I asked unsurely.
He stayed silent, before answering, "Oh, there's nothing wrong, just admiring the cherry blossoms."
"Oh yes," I agreed, "They are very admirable this time of year."
"So you come here frequently?" He asked.
"Yeah, whenever I can." I replied.
"Oh, me too." He said.
There was a kind of weird silence after that. But we were too intrigued by the blossoms to notice.
"Ya know, there's this really cool quote I came up with a few days ago." He suggested.
"Oh! Can I hear it?" I asked excitedly.
"Yes, you'll be the first person to hear it so, promise that you'll take it to heart. Okay?"
"Of course! Pinky promise! I never break a promise!" I childishly promised.
He lightly chuckled while I lightly blushed a tinge of pink, "Okay, here goes." He turned to the sunset so that I can only see his profile face. The red sun shone on his face and gave him a glow. The blowing wind also added an effect on his hair. "Do you know how to spell the word believe?"
I scoffed, "Well, yeah, B-E-L-I-E-V-E." I spelled out to him.
"Correct. Now, you should always expect, but not believe," He spoke out.
"Huh? How?" I asked, utterly confuesd.
"Hmm, okay, example. Let's say that you ask your dad for something, he says okay, you would get very happy at that point right? You'd set your eyes on that prize. That's believing. So just expect it, like, if he shows up with it, you wouldn't get all that suprised, but don't believe it, don't put your heart to it, so you won't get hurt." He explained.
"Oh, okay, expect but don't believe, so you don't get hurt. Nice, but why?" I added.
"Ah, very nice question, because in believe, there is always the word lie." The boy wisely said. He flinched as though he heard someone call him. "Hey, umm, I gotta go. Bye!" He then ran off quickly.
"Hey! Wait!" I yelled out and started to run after him. But I lost sight of him quickly. It was if the wind filled with cherry blossoms carried him too.
Now, what was his name? Hmm, maybe I can find out tomorrow. Oh, I just realized, there goes my love for Peter Pan along with him.
