The story goes that Paul McCartney had an argument with his long-time best friend, John Lennon and stormed out of Abbey Road Studios and aimed to drive home in his Aston Martin to St John's Wood.
The date was 5AM on Wednesday 9th November 1966 (Some alternative theories state that the date was '11:50PM, 11th September 1966' as a result to the American release of Sgt Pepper). On the way he picked up a girl called Rita (or Carolyn) who needed to go to the police station. When she found out that she was in a car with Beatle Paul McCartney, Rita freaked out which caused Paul lose control of the vehicle, ending up a car crash in which the young girl walked away from as if nothing had happened.
The Beatles had to find a look alike to save their career as a band let alone the most influential one ended up with a man called William Campbell. Who in reality was a real man who went missing at the same time as Paul supposedly died. If you search 'Billy Shears' on Google, there is no information about Shears but instead comes up with Richard "Ringo Starr" Starkey, the drummer of the band. But more about possibly why later.
