The theory first became of question when Paul McCartney was actually in a crash but with a moped when on Sunday 26th December 1965, on his way to see his family in Liverpool with Guinness heir, Tara Browne. The result of the crash was a chipped front tooth and a cut lip that then ended in a scar. Which according to the theory, Billy Shears grew a moustache over to cover the scar from procedures to make him look like McCartney with the help of the Queens secret service, MI5, according to 'The Last Testament of George Harrison'.
Who started the theory however, came down to an American University school newspaper. The young journalists there started to investigate on the theory as a joke and material for their weekly school news report. But much of the initial credit for the Paul is Dead theory belongs to a student at Michigan University called Fred LaBour.
