A few hours later
Amari's POV
The last bell of the day rung and I'm packing up my books. I stand up and as I was making my way to the door, I was stopped.
"How's Tyrek doing Amari? I haven't seen him since last night. Was that you sobbing on the phone?"
Kiana...the girl that has it all. Looks, money and now my boyfriend.
I hate this pink lipstick bitch.
I ignore her smart ass remark and went around her. I couldn't help but feel a bit insecure around her though. What did Tyrek see in her that he didn't see in me? Despite my worries, I still make my way to Tyrek's car. He's wasn't there when I arrived so I leaned on his hood and waited.
...
And waited
...
And waited
I checked my phone, at least an hour had passed by. Where is he? As I was about to call for a ride I see Tyrek finally walk out the school with a big ass jacket on. He made his way to the car.
"Took you long enough." I said a bit annoyed
"I had to stay back for a bit. How do you feel about just chilling at my house for a bit, we were gonna go to the movies but the movie I wanted to watch isn't showing anymore."
"I'm fine with that I guess, can we stop at McDonalds?" I said while giving him puppy eyes.
"So your eyes could sparkle for food but not me? But yeah, I guess we can."
He unlocks his car and we get in but I can't help but wonder why he decided to wear this big ass jacket when it's hot as shit today.
Shortly After Getting McDonalds
"Your fat ass better not be putting your hand in my fries. You couldn't wait until we got to the house?"
"They were getting cold and fries are shit when they get reheated."
"Well do me a favor and put some of that in my mouth." I take my hand, pick up some fries. As I put them in Tyrek's mouth, he closes it and sucks my fingers.
"Salty" he said, causing me to break out into laughter. "I missed this, this reminds me why I fell in love with you in the first place. You always found a reason to be happy."
"You always gave me a reason to be happy."
"I remember the day that Jay introduced me to your crazy ass. He was still in school and he wouldn't stop running his mouth about this freshman he had his eye on 'Tyrek her smile is everything'. Remember when he brought you with him to the bowling ally...
Flashback
"STRIKE!" Amari said beaming "Jay, did you see me?"
"I sure did." Jay looked back at his boy Rosko. "What you think Ros? I think she's got eyes for me." Rosko smirked as he pointed to Tyrek who was sitting on the chair who was chatting with Amari.
"I think someone's got their eyes on her too."
Jay knew exactly what type of person Tyrek was but he genuinely seemed to be enjoying a conversation with a girl. He realized that he was just a small part of a bigger picture. He puts others happiness above his own time and time again...and this was another one of those times. He walked up to Tyrek.
"Ty, can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Sure man" Amari got up and left to sit next to Rosko. "What's up?"
"Tyrek, be honest with me when I ask you this. Do you have a thing for Mari?" Tyrek remained quiet for a while.
"Jay ... yes. I'm sorry, I just felt the connection. Her eyes had this sparkle to them that I've never seen before. She completes me." Jay let out a heavy breath.
"Ty, I'm gonna step down for you. Just promise her the world, I just wanna see her smile. That's my one request."
"I promise."
"Okay then, I'm gonna talk to her. You and Rosko could keep bowling."
Jay walked up to Mari and asked her to come with him to his car and she agreed.
...
When Jay got into the drivers seat, he stared at the beautiful passenger beside him.
"Is every thing alright Jay?" Jay extended his arm and moved the coiled curl out of Amari's face. He leaned in and ran his hand down her face. His hand cupped her chin and pulled her in. Her lips met his, they broke the kiss for a short while. Amari sat herself onto Jay's lap and he positioned his hands on her back, causing it to arch. Jay continued their kiss, only this time he folded his tongue into hers. He pulled away and trailed kisses on her neck. He then stopped.
"Amari, letting go of you is gonna be the hardest thing I've ever had to do."
"Jay what are you talking about."
"Amari, I see how you look at him. He's the one you want, not me. This is the last kiss you're ever gonna get from me."
"Jay-"
"You don't have to explain anything to me Mari, I just want you to be happy." Jay reached for the door handle. "There's a jacket in the backseat...you're gonna need it." Amari pulled down the mirror to fix herself when she saw bright red hickeys on her neck in the shape of a heart.
"That dumbass" Amari got the jacket from the backseat and went back inside.
'What a wonderful first kiss' she thought
Flashback Over
Amari smiled "Yes I remember...one of the best days of my life."
