“Joe, it's not a big deal, we're friends right?”

Joe opened his mouth to reply when the bedroom door burst open and Mollie and Freya came running into the room.

“Why don't we go to the park and talk?” Dianne asked.
Joe nodded and the two quickly got ready and walked to the park in a comfortable silence, taking a seat on a bench.

“Like I was saying Joe, it's really not a big deal, it's fine, we're friends.” Dianne lied to herself, she had started to realise that she did like Joe.
A lot.

“Yeah. Thanks Di.” he smiled back at her.
“No problem, you wanna climb the tree?” she giggled.
“Race ya.” he smirked, running over to the tree and already starting to climb up the branches.
“Hey, that's not fair!” Dianne called after him.

By the time Dianne had gotten to the branch Joe was on he had starting climbing back down.
“Race you back!” he called.
“For gods sake Joe.” Dianne laughed, slightly out of breath.
She began climbing down the tree as fast as she could until she lost her footing on a branch. She slipped from the tree, landing in Joe's outstretched arms.
She smiled up at him. “Thanks.”
Joe didn't respond, his sea blue eyes boring into hers.
They flickered from her eyes to her lips.
Dianne gasped as he pressed his lips to hers.
He pulled away, his eyes wide, he set her down on the ground.
“I'm so sorry, I don't know why I did that.” Joe stumbled over his words.
As he was about to run, Dianne grabbed his arm, pulling him back.
“Joe, do you like me?” she asked softly.
“I-i do. I'm sorry, I've just ruined everything.”
“Has it ever crossed your mind that I might like you back?”
“No. Well once, but only for a second.”
“Well Joseph, I like you too.”
A grin spread across his face as their lips connected again.

Dianne smiled into the kiss as Joe's hands found the small of her back.
They pulled away and she smiled up at him.

You're welcome.

(I also just realised I started spelling Mollie's name differently bc it used to be Molly, I apologise I didn't notice 😂😂)
