My head was pounding. I could feel the power of my heart rapidly beating into my chest, I felt light, but heavy at the same time. I open my eyes, but see nothing except darkness, I notice that I'm now wearing a pair of sweats and a baggy t-shirt. I get up from from my bed and hold my head in my hands, I knew it wouldn't help my headache, but I did it anyway. I started wondering how I even got here, the last thing I remember before falling was...
Messina.
This couldn't be happening, not again. I felt myself slipping off the bed, I felt helpless. I tried to get up, get help, from who? I had no clue. I rest the back of my head against my bed, and for the first time in a long time... I cried. I look up at the ceiling in despair, as if it could help me, and it did. It helped me remember.
.....
I looked down at my ring and couldn't help the dumb smile plastered on my face. I hadn't felt this happy in so long. I couldn't wait to get this mission over with so I can tell my father that his little girl is finally engaged to the love of her life.
Dean Miller
He was perfect. His fluffy blonde hair and mesmerizing green eyes, his laugh that made my whole day. The way he would look at me every morning and kiss my forehead with a smile that could make the whole world stop and stare. I remembered his heavily tattooed arms when they would reach out to tickle me whenever I was upset. He was indeed, perfect. I wasn't the only one who thought so either.
Him and my dad would get along so well, although Dylan had a tough time adjusting to him at first, they ended up being the closest of friends. It made me think of the day I met him.
I entered an old cafe, after a long mission, I was exhausted, I sat at a booth and when a waiter came up to take my order, and I looked at him, I knew... that he was it for me. Fast forward 3 years later, I'm engaged to him. It seemed surreal. I also had some news of my own to give him, I had found out that I was two months pregnant. We had never really talked about kids all that often but I couldn't imagine him being anything but thrilled at the news.
I soon felt a little nervous, I hadn't told him I was a part of the mafia. Whenever he asked about the brand on my neck I just said that it was an accident I had as a child, although I felt like he never really believed me, he never pushed on the subject.
I'm snapped out of my thoughts when the car comes to a screeching halt. I better get this mission over with. I take off my ring and stuff it into the pocket of my bullet proof vest.
"You ready Monroe?" Our second in command Alex, asked as he took out his gun from his strap, I nod and copy his movements.
We were supposed to be after a group that called themselves Messina. A child trafficking organization. We aren't bad people, what the De Lucas do is what the police fail to provide. My father lost trust in the police justice system when they couldn't find my mothers killer, and in all honesty...they didn't care to.
Alex and I walk to the outside of the building waiting for the beep of the security system, indicating that security has been deactivated and we were clear to enter, at least that's what Dylan told us. Not too long after waiting outside, the beep sounds and Alex pulls the door open while I walk in with my gun aimed, him following not too far behind.
It happened so fast.
One minute we were fine and the next, all I could hear was guns shooting and people yelling, I call for backup into my radio and within about 10 seconds, we had these people surrounded.
