bump uglies

I left to go up to the room I was in about 20 seconds after I realized Alec wasn't letting up on his laughter, I sat down on the bed throwing the bat back down on the floor a little harder than I should've. I release a big sigh as I rest my back on the head board. What is going on? My mind is so scattered that I don't even know where to begin thinking.

How is it possible that Messina is back up after last year? I hated the fact that my first mission after probation was this one. I couldn't have gotten any other assignments? I feel like I'm slightly overreacting, because I know that nobody knew about me and Dean, not even Dylan, but it somehow still feels like a personal attack. I look at the alarm clock on the nightstand that was to the left of me. Ten AM. I guess I'd been asleep for longer than I thought.

I decided that calling my dad and getting all the information out of him would probably be the best solution. I rummage around the sheets for my phone and find out that I've been sitting on it the whole time.

Fuck this day.

I find my dads contact and felt my throat contracting with each ring.

"Hey Tesoro, are you okay? Alec called me and said that you fainted, is that true? Did you take another hot shower? Tesoro I told you to stop doing that-" I let out a slight chuckle, although it was clear it was a chuckle drowning in sadness.

" I'm fine, dad, I think I just ate something bad. I called so you could finish what you were trying to say last night."

" Okay... are you sure you're okay because I can send someon-" Bless him for being so kind and protective, but I really wasn't in the mood for it at the moment.

"Yes dad I'm okay, don't worry about me, what was it that you were telling me yesterday?"

I heard him contemplating my honesty, but he eventually sighed and starting speaking." Well, remember that group you dealt with last year? Messina?" My throat felt so tight I genuinely couldn't get a word out, I instead let out a satisfactory "Mhm" as he continued speaking.

"Yes well, apparently a few months ago, someone started the act back up, seems to me that they had a backup plan all along. We only found this out yesterday morning, and I had told Dylan to give you a heads up which he clearly didn't do-" He then went into a rant about how Dylans been too busy "getting some" to actually focus and his job. I guess him and Scar finally decided to "bump uglies" as Scar puts it. That thought brought a genuine tight lipped smile to my face. They're good for each other.

I stayed quiet and waited for him to get back on the real topic at hand." Anyway, once we found out, it also came to our attention that your uncle was also on this case, and he had hired Alec Camden to get the job done. I called up your uncle after that and let him know about our situation, and since were on excellent terms we decided that it would make the most sense to have you and Alec work together and have this be a joint mission."

Uncle Gianni used to be a part of the De Luca mafia, he was my dads right hand man. Everyone had always envied their relationship. Enzo and Gianni De Luca. That was until my uncle met his wife, who was apart of another mafia, it caused some bad blood between families but my dad never really cared, even though this pretty unheard of. Once you're a part of a mafia, that's pretty much it for you. Yet for some unknown reason my dad actually supported my uncle when he became the Don of his wife's mafia. Although the bad blood was wiped clean when my father and uncle decided to join the two families, making us the strongest allies.

" This changes your mission drastically Monroe, you're no longer going to be undercover, I trust you the most, I want you to be on the frontlines, I still want you on campus and fraternizing, but we'll figure out how to get all the information you need, I just need you and Alec to begin intensive training as soon as possible." I heard a door open through the phone and heard people mumbling, before my dad put his phone back to his ear and gave me a quick apology and goodbye, saying that he had a meeting to attend.

The second he hung up the phone I felt the tears begging to fall, but I wouldn't let them. I refuse to have him and his people do this to me again. I quickly wiped away my tears that had ignored my command and fell down to my chin. I let out a huff of air, that meant to be one of determination and strength, but instead came out shaky and soft. I heard someone clear their throat and knock on the door, I tightly shut my eyes and pressed the base of my palms to my eyes, as if they would hold in my tears.

After about five seconds of mediocre breathing exercises, I spoke. "Come in."

I watched the doorknob as it went down and the door opened to reveal a highly uncomfortable looking Alec. He peaked his head in as if he's asking for permission to come in, I have him a quick nod and watched him come in while leaving the door wide open, which made me slightly uncomfortable. I know there was nobody else home but having the door open made me feel somewhat exposed, I didn't like it. Before I could ask him to shut it, he sat down on the edge of the bed and spoke.

"Your dad told you about the new plan?" I nodded, I didn't trust my voice. He gave a slow nod In return. This was so fucking awkward it was killing me, and by the look on his face, he shared the same feelings.

" Right so since we need to start training, I thought we could maybe take runs in the morning around campus and do some sparring on the football field when the jocks are busy taking baths in protein shakes." It's now becoming more clear as to why Dylan gets along with him.

I avoided eye contact but kept nodding. "What about shooting practice?"

"There's an indoor shooting range I found not too far from the dorms, we'll go there." I felt like curling into a shrimp and hiding under the covers. I can do this, I know I can. Iv'e let him him ruin me once, and I'm not going to let it happen twice. I zone back in when I hear Alec shift from the bed to face me, giving me and accusatory look, I shot one back.

"What the hell happened to you last night?" I could tell that it was to question he's been dying to ask since I woke up.

" I was tired." I'm not about to spill my whole life story. If my dad and Dylan don't know about it, why should he?

"Monroe, cut the crap, tell me what happened." I gave an empty chuckle when I realized he was throwing my words back at me. I look at him with as much composure as I could and gave him an answer that probably didn't satisfy him, but it was enough to shut him up. In all honesty, I couldn't care less about his satisfaction.

"Messina traffics children, I have a soft spot for them, that's all."

To be fair, I didn't lie.

He gave an unbelieving look, but he let it go. He shot up from his place on the bed and walked over to the door, before he could shut it completely, " Its Saturday so we don't have to be on campus. I already called Dylan and let him know you're okay, I told him you were asleep so he wouldn't bug you. If you're hungry there's food in the fridge. I'm going out for a bit, but i'll be back in about an hour." He shut the door, and left.

I threw myself backwards on the bed with a dramatic sigh.

This mission is going to be hell.
