First anniversary dinner dates and rose petals in bed are overrated. A couple's first anniversary should be celebrated in a way that it's something special, not copied out of a mundane romance movie. Who made such a bold statement? Well, someone named Zhao Xiaotang did.

Xiaotang is different. She's a noble and elegant modern woman with equally noble and elegant tastes. She took everything seriously. Well, almost everything. But still, Xiaotang wasn't the type to half-ass anything. So, she decided to do something more for their first anniversary instead of half-assing it.

And so she planned. Before she did started making the itinerary, she had to know if Shuxin was free that week. Xiaotang tried her best to be subtle when she asked Shuxin.

"Hey, Shuxin, are you free the whole week of our anniversary?"

"Yep!"

Okay, maybe she wasn't that subtle. But she was good at hiding the trip itinerary though. Xiaotang made sure that to put the list somewhere the sun would never shine.

"Huh? What's this?" Shuxin picked up the cutely decorated piece of paper from the kitchen table.

"It's nothing!" Xiaotang flew across the room to take the piece of paper back.

"Are you hiding something from me, Zhao Xiaotang?" Shuxin narrowed her eyes.

"No, no, no! Not at all, Yu egg. Not at all!"

Xiaotang also came up with secret plans. She talked to Kiki about one when she and Shuxin were on a double date with Kiki and Shaking.

"So the thing is, Kiki," she whispered to her best friend sitting really closely beside her. "When we get on top of the hills, I will give the guys down below a signal. And then those guys will start the fireworks and they'll go 'cis boom bah' in the sky!"

"What if those guys can't see you?" Kiki said. "Y'all gonna be in the dark, though. And fireworks might get in the way of the stargazing. I thought you didn't want to make it too cliche."

"Yeah, true."

Shuxin, on the other hand was concerned. Her lover was clearly hiding things from her and she didn't like that. For instance, now she was talking to Kiki off in the corner, blatantly ignoring her existence.

"Hey, Shaking," Shuxin nudged the rapper girl. "Do you know what those two are talking about in the corner?"

"I dunno. Somethin' about fireworks on top of hills going 'cis boom bah' being cliche and stargazing or something."

"Ah, I see."

It didn't take too long for Shuxin to figure out what was going on with Xiaotang. In short, Xiaotang's undercover mission failed. But Shuxin never told her that. Well, not until they both became old, wrinkly, and grey.

"Where are you taking me?"

Shuxin knew that they were going somewhere. Xiaotang told her three days ago that she would be taking her somewhere for their anniversary. But she never bothered to ask where.
