"So it seems that Mariana's eldest is entering this school year as a freshman right?" A voice of a woman in her early forties spoke to no one inside a dark room where the only source of light was the crackling flames of the fireplace. She looked at the flame with uncaring eyes and looked at the photo of a beautiful young lady whose blue eyes could melt the coldest of hearts, including his.

"Mariana," she thought sadly, remembering the blonde maiden's soothing voice and her bright smile. She was one of her most precious students and the one loved one she couldn't protect.

"Yes Lady Phonette, we have recieved confirmation from one of the spies in Muhaki. Deemed promising and prodigious by the teachers back at Joton as well so we might be expecting quite the genius." The lady known as Phonette smiled. Of course, Mariana herself was a genius herself so it wouldn't be surprising really. But she was a bit confused, why was she only hearing about the eldest?

"And what about the younger?" the voice was silent, as if it was contemplating before speaking in a hushed voice.

"The younger one is to be more observed. He is weaker compared to his brother but extremely well-versed to everything he's being taught as if he was absorbing all of it with no problem. His intelligence is not to be ignored. He is said to be very intelligent in many aspects and able to use high-level magics at such a youbg age," her eyes widened. Now that was surprising and a whole lot more concerning. If that's the case then she should be very wary, knowing he would stop at nothing to find out the truth.

"And the eldest? If the younger is intelligent, then what of the eldest?" she was already curious of the older one's capabilities. If the younger was intelligent, then she assumed that the elder would be leader-like.

"The elder of the two is authoritive and assertive. Can lead a group optimally and unchallenged with his way of the sword. Intelligent, but cannot rival the younger. Though is more capable in direct combat rather than relying on magic. The thing we have to look out for is the tendency that he might be able to use that power. We never know who among the two of them inherited it," the voice surmised. Phonette nodded, her slightly graying hair waving down as she did so. Looking over the fireplace, she closed her eyes. In an instant, the fires dimmed blue before creating a powerful flare as she opened her eyes. Phonette's gentle brown irises change to an eerie glare of emerald and willed the fire to create some sort of image.

There, she saw him. The one that caused all this madness and Mariana's death. The one whom she abhorred the most.

"Wilfred," her voice monotonous, "thank you for the reports, but I have one more question. Does he remember?" hissing at the pronoun, her voice laced with venom. The voice gulped, hearing such hatred before replying.

"Owing to the fact that Lady Mariana used the last of her powers to lock away his memories, I assure you Lady Phonette that he does not know of it, not anymore," filled with conviction and assurance, she slumped down on her recliner and held her temples in a pained manner. More problems to deal with, but at least the most grievious ones are taken cared of, she mused while glaring at the image.

It was the image of a strikingly handsome young man, donned in black. His hair a bit of a mess but didn't hamper the sharp angles of his jaw. The way he wore his clothes screamed aristocracy as his pale complexion serves as a painful reminder that not everything in white is a good person.

"Thank you Wilfred. Keep a close eye on them and make sure the eldest arrives here safely. I will send another one to keep the younger under my watch for you are to return along with him, understand?" her tone made no room for argument as Wilfred gave a firm answer before cutting off the mindlink.

The beryl luster never leaving her eyes, she continued to look at the image with hate.

"You'll never have them back," she declared pompously before the fire bursted and abruptly destroyed the image as it returned to it's normal blaze. She crossed her legs and with a wave of her hand she summoned a wine glass filled with a blue near purple-like liquid.

"Not on my watch. Cheers," she added and toasted to no one. She looked away from the fireplace and softly opened her curtains, allowing the soft rays of dawn wash over her. She smiled, knowing she could finally relax. With one of Mariana's children under her protection, all she had to worry about now was the younger one but gave herself some reprieve and sighed. Picking up the elder's application form, her eyes widened at the resemblance. Dropping the form, she went back to her desk and held a simple looking box.

"So I guess it's time huh?" She mused in a very apprehensive manner and slowly opened the box to reveal a simple looking rectangular mirror and a simple iron dagger. But simplicity is often used to hide from the people blinded with greed.

Looking at the rising sun, she closed the box. This wasn't her responsiblity to burden but can't help feeling that this would be more heavier on someone else's shoulders.

"Cheers indeed," gulping down the last of her wine.

Welcome to the first installment of Poly Talentus Academy!

Author's Note:

So yeah, I can honestly say that this is my very first try in making an actual book here in Wattpad (my first time). Expect some grammar mistakes because English isn't really my first language and the fact that I just write for fun, not really minding the errors. Anywho, this book will contain the cliché magic school style setting thanks to The-Boy-Who-Lived but you don't really have to worry about having the same plots as other fantasy stories cause I assure ya'll this is gonna be different. (And a lot more ridiculous tbh)

That's all

'Til the next update,
