'Is he really the Emblem Keeper?' Simian wondered when he saw how his future master was being swarmed by a yellow wolf pup, a green fawn, a blue snakeling, an indigo-white bear cub and a violet eaglet. Hadrian was smiling at the cute baby animals as the five little ones babbled on and on.

Leo was looking at them lazily with sleepy eyes as Nox poofed back to his kit form, his tails smoothly flowing as Simian approached him.

"Nox, are you sure this boy's the one? He doesn't seem so- heroic- to me," Simian said as Nox looked at him with a raised brow, though he looked amused than annoyed.

"He may not seem like it, but Hadrian just killed a lich- an empowered one too," the monkey's eyes widened, shocked. A fifteen-year-old killing a lich?! The boy's either some sort of human hybrid or an overpowered young man.

"How?!"

"Simian, the boy is not as simple as he appears to be. He bears it, and I hope that he will be able to control it very soon. His 17th birthday is approaching more sooner than you think," Nox said, serious. Simian nodded, understanding the situation. Having it can be dangerous.

"Okay, now you have convinced me. Second question, why are there two more of his kind floating in thin air right beside you?" Simian looked a bit spooked as he looked at Cedric and Elaine's floating bodies. Nox looked at the two of them before sighing.

"Mana exhaustion and a transfer spell that's what," he answered before settling their bodies on the large couch in a sitting position with a wave of his hand.

"No wonder the boy has those tell tale marks-" he looked at Cedric's face, not really absorbing the clear resemblance between him and his mother. But what made him upset was the dry blood that trailed from Cedric's eyes, nose and mouth.

"What happened to him?!"

"Just like I told you, transfer spell. He transferred all of Hadrian's pain into him when we fought the lich. He's the reason why our master is still up and running. I never noticed the thread of blue he attached between him and Hadrian. Even while passing out, he kept enduring his brother's pain," Nox said in a solemn manner. He saw how Hadrian changed and knew the reason why he changed. His brother was hurt. The one person he could call family ever since Mariana died.

Their mother was Mariana Malcolms, a powerful high enchantress who was said to rival a phoenix's capabilities in healing spells, countercursing abilities, an extremely close affinity to fire and was even able to tame one. She died protecting her sons from an attack of rogue vampires, but for her of all people to die despite being a powerful magician is still wrapped in confusion, a topic Hadrian really hates and so much more the vampires as well.

"They've been inseperable ever since she, you know," Nox avoided saying the word died.

"He must really care for his brother. To go for such lengths just to make sure master is okay. Very noble of him. But Nox, about what you said about Hadrian having the curse, does he-" Simian said as he pointed at the boy with a hint of fear.

"No, Cedric doesn't have it," Nox assured his troubled friend who looked very uncomfortable with the word "curse". Simian made a relieved gesture before going to the kitchen.

"I'm going to get something to munch on. Want any?"

"Cookies please," he let out before floating towards Leo, asking him if he wants something to eat. He nudged the red cat cutely with his purple, fluffy paws.

"A bowl of milk would be nice," Leo mumbled before using one of Nox's tails as his pillow. Nox smiled before using his other tails as his counterpart's blanket who purred happily with the additional comfort. Nox then used his remaining tails as his own pillow and blanket and snuggled on top of the kitten's back.
