"I can't believe you are leaving for the draft." Claire said.
She was in my room as I was packing my bag. Today was the day I was jumping on a plane to Ottawa. Tomorrow was the draft, I grabbed my suit and placed it nicely in my bag.
The last four months have been hard but Claire and Dylan helped me threw it. The three of us had become very close. Dylan was becoming a brother to me.
I zipped my bag up and gave Claire a hug. She starting to cry some tears of joy. She was now like my mom even though I'm older than her. We walk down the stairs and walk out the front door. I put my bag into the back seat and jump into Claire's car. She drives me over to the airport. We get to the airport and we both get out. She was over to me and gave me a hug.
"Good luck" she whispers to me.
"Thanks, but you are the reason I'm here. If it wasn't you I probably would be at home regretting not going." I whisper to her.
She lets me go and I grab my bag from the back of her car. I wave to her goodbye as I walk into the airport.
I got on the plane and I was freaking out. In less than 24 hours I was going to be in the NHL or going to be going home. We take off and when the plane was in the air when I turned my phone on. I grabbed my earbuds from my pocket. I put my earbuds in my ears. I turn on my music and lean my head against the window. I was closer to my family they I have been before. My eyes start to close as I listen to Compass by Two Steps from Hell.
I woke up right as we were landing. I grab my bag from the overhang and walk off the plane. I walk into the airport and could believe I was here, in Ottawa for the draft.
I get a taxi to my hotel and check in. I went into my room and unzip my suitcase. I took my suit out and hanged it on the little pole they hand in the room. I walk to the closes restaurant and got some dinner. After dinner I walk back to my room and change into comfortable clothes. I jump on my bed and turn on the tv. My eyes start to close and I fall asleep.
My alarm clock went off and I turned it off. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I shower and put my suit on. I brush my hair and went down to the lobby. I grab some breakfast and catch a taxi to the place where the draft is being held. I go inside and take my seat.
The draft was in its 3rd round and was the Chicago Blackhawks turn to pick.
"The Chicago Blackhawks would like to pick Aaron Hijons."
I take my suit jacket off and I go up on stage. I'm probably they only person who doesn't have family here. Claire and Dylan were going to come but Dylan's grandma became sick and Claire wanted to help Dylan. I shake their hands and they hand me the jersey with my name on it. I put the jersey on and take a picture with them. I had my one arm around, Joel Quenneville, the head coach of the Blackhawks. They talk to me a little bit as we walk off stage.
After the draft was over, I catch a taxi to the hotel. I go up to my room and change into a shirt and jeans. I call Claire.
"Hey Aaron, how did things go?" Claire asked.
"I'm on the Chicago Blackhawks!" I said.
I hear her scream and Dylan asking her what was wrong. She tells him and I could here him scream a little bit. Which was not like Dylan.
"Congratulations Aaron!" Dylan said.
"Thanks" I said.
"Dylan! Can you come?" I hear his grandma yell.
"Coming grandma." Dylan yell back.
"We got to go, bye." Claire said.
She hangs up and I put my phone in my jeans pocket. I grab my room key and head to the lobby. I go grab something to eat and come back to the hotel. I change my comfortable clothes and went to bed.
I got up the next morning and pack my bag. I went to the airport and aboard my plane back home. I put my bag in the overhang and sat down in my seat. A man sits down next to me. I look out the window at the airport. The plane takes off and I still looked out the window.
The plane land and I grab my bag. I see Claire and Dylan and I ran to them. They hug me and I hug them back. It was June and I was going to move to Chicago in late August - early September. I was going to spend my last two-ish months with Claire and Dylan.
