10 Years Later
"What happened next mum? You've got to tell us!" My daughter, Ella, begged, jumping up and down on her seat.
I giggled at her enthusiasm and put a finger to my lip, thinking carefully.
"To be honest, it's gotten a bit blurry. All I can remember is your dad proposing at my graduation ceremony. It was very romantic." I smiled.
"But muuuum. I want details! I need to turn this into an AMAZING story for my school project!" She exclaimed.
"Well, I swore to protect her no matter what." Phil said, entering the room.
"I said that if William ever went near her again, I'd bash his face in." He smirked, sitting down next to me.
"I continued my studies and managed to ignore William. We had a few problems with him but nothing serious. My graduation day came and I was the final person up, so Phil proposed in front of everyone and I, of course, said yes. It took a lot of explaining to your grandparents but they accepted our marriage." I smiled, looking up at Phil.
"Quite the in-laws I have." Phil giggled.
"Oh shush. Anyway, 3 years later we were ready for a child so you arrived. And then," as if on que, our son PJ (Phil Junior) ran into the room.
"Dad! There's a spider in my room!" He exclaimed.
We all giggled as PJ clutched Phil's leg. Phil stood up and picked up PJ, tickling him.
"We better sort that out, hadn't we?" Phil smirked, carrying PJ back into his room.
Ella sat down next to me and looked at me strangely.
"Yes Ella?" I asked.
"What's it like to be in love?" She asked, twiddling her thumbs.
"Well, you get butterflies in your stomach whenever you're around them. You always think about them and you'll, inevitably, stalk them on the internet. You just want to talk to them but sometimes your words don't form correctly. It's a weird feeling, but a wonderful one." I smiled.
"Mum, is it wrong to love someone of the same gender?" She asked, genuine fear in her voice.
"Of course not Ella! Why would you ever think that?" I asked her.
"Because there are people in my school hurting this boy for loving another boy." She said.
I hugged Ella tightly.
"There is nothing wrong with being homosexual and those people are just downright idiots." I said.
She giggled and took a deep breath, holding her head and stroking her hands down her hair.
"Mum, I think I'm a lesbian." She said.
"Honey, I support you no matter what and I'm not questioning you, well I am but not in a bad way, but why do you think that?"
"Because I think I have a crush on Dan and Catty's daughter, April."
I hugged Ella tightly and placed my hands on her shoulders.
"Well honey, I think you might be right. You seem pretty lost for words when she's around and you're always blushing when we talk about her." I smirked.
"Mum!" Ella exclaimed.
"Hey, I'm your mum. I'm supposed to know these things." I laughed.
Phil came back, PJ at his legs, and sat down on the other side of me. Ella returned to her seat and PJ followed, asking to be picked up. Ella picked him up and placed him on her lap, giggling.
Phil kissed me and I heard PJ gag so I pulled away, laughing.
"And that, Ella, is how I met your father."
