And I never had the heart to tell her, she flirts with me, she smiles at me, she listens to me, and I listen to her, but how do I tell her I love her, when boys drool over her, men wait up for her, and girls are always talking to her – so when will I get my chance, we talk every day – and yet she sits at her desk, closely listening to the teacher as if she is hanging onto every word that tumbles out of his mouth, writing furiously into her notebook – her actions contradicted greatly by their effortless execution – yet I sit here – with an empty sheet of parchment – hoping that she will feel the daggers my eyes drill into the back of her head, and her constant unknowing forces me to stare longer, at her heart length, raven black hair, that smooths out over her uniform blazer, turning up with the scoop of her shoulder pads, and down with the plunge of her arms, leading to the calming waters that flow to her hands and into the null point five millimetre pencil that is delicately napping in the palm of her left hand – dancing ferociously across the page, transcribing everything the teacher is saying – yet blocking out her surroundings – even me – leaving me to ask myself once again, what do I need to do to get her attention, because what if the bell rings, and she leaves, and she gets home and forgets all about me due to some freak accident where she was the victim, and her parents move away to get her closer to a better care facility, and she is treated by some hunk of a nurse, and she marries him out of pity for him saving her life, only to get a desk job that pays minimum wage – what if I make it big – and what if, one day, I get a letter from her, after her memories have returned, and she hears about me – will I remember her enough to reply – and what if I don't remember her at all, and we both die thinking the other has forgotten us, and I'll wonder for a long while whether she does, or has ever wondered.

This is a 1 sentence story that I wrote for my Brown summer program, in which we had to recreate distinguished writers writing styles, and I chose to base mine off of Gary D Wilson's "Sweet Sixteen" so I hope you enjoyed it!
