The House of Lamination. That's what was over the doors as I looked up from my work. I smirked waiting. The wind shifted toward the house. Any minute now. I laughed when I heard the first squeal.
“Is that cooking?” Beelzie was awake. I knew he would be first, Lord of Gluttony after all.
“What is that mouth water scent?” Hmm that was not what I expected. Asmo commented, Lord of Lust waking up so early? Come on! I chuckled to myself.
“Where is that coming from?” There he is. I knew he couldn’t sleep through this. Mammon's head poked out of the window. My little Lord of Greed peering down at me. “What are you doing?” he cried. A second later the head of his red haired younger brother poked out.
“Oh, that hurts my stomach! I’m soooooo hungry!” Beelzie cried.
“I have something ready for you when you get down here. But the pig roast wont be ready until tonight!” I yelled back.
“I have to smell that all day! Why do you torture me! Lucifer has nothing on you!” Beelzie moaned.
In response I lifted the plate where I had already cooked ten cheeseburgers for his hunger. I smirked as his eyes widen. He said nothing as his face disappeared from the window. Mammon smirked down at me.
“You better have something for the rest of us!” he called as he too slipped away from my view.
“Well that was a delightful way to wake up the entire Devildom.” A cool crisp voice stated behind me. I turn. Walking together out of the woods came the leader of this motley band of brothers. Lucifer, Lord of Pride. Beside him was the man that had spoken Lord Diavolo. I grinned at them.
“And just what were you two doing out this early?” I asked raising an eyebrow. Luci folded his arms across his chest. He snorted turning his handsome dark head away from the other man. Diavolo laughed eyes crinkling closed.
“As if you would be in the know for that dear human.” He teased good naturedly.
Beelzie was rushing across the grounds toward us. “Uh, you might want to stand back!” I cried at seeing him bent over running at full speed. For a demon that was fast!. I tossed the plate of burgers at him. He caught it with snake like reflexes. I swear he just plopped right down in the lawn mid run!
“How?” I whispered to myself. The red-haired demon was already on his third burger. His brothers came out. I handed each a plate with one burger, fries and macaroni salad on it. Then they could pick their own drinks from a cooler I had at the edge of the table.
Lucifer stood by watching over his siblings. “What possessed you to do this, human?” he asked. I shrugged looking away. I could feel my face flame up.
“In my world, um where I come from we have um cookouts like this for you know um today.” I stammered.
“Is it summer in the human world?” Asmo asked glancing up at me. I smiled at his angel like face.
“In my country it is.” I told him. He smiled happy eating his burger with a fork and knife. I shook my head.
Leviathan, Lord of Envy, looked over at me. He was the only one, aside from Lucifer, who hadn't sat on the ground. “What is it, Levi?” I asked him.
“Well, human…” he snorted out the name. I sighed. Him and his computer games. Well I guess human might be better than Orc or something! “… you didn’t come by my room last night. I had something to show you.” Was he freaking pouting!
“Levi, I told you I was busy and didn’t know what time I would be done. I figured you were asleep by the time I got set up.” I waved my hand over the stuff set up across the front yard. He sighed.
“I would have woken up for you.” He muttered biting a fry. I went to him. The loner recluse. Reaching out I rubbed his arm. “I’m sorry I kept you waiting. But I got you something.” I pulled the game magazine I bought for him out from behind my back. His face lit up as he snatched it out of my hands.
“Oh, you're forgiven this time!” he cried walking away as he flipped through the glossy pages. I giggled.
Satan, Lord of Wrath, looked up at me. “You sure know how to please demons, little human.” He teased.
“Honestly, it doesn’t take much.”
“Oh, look the Chihuahua is awake!” Lucifer called as a small man dressed all in white came strolling out of the building. He was rubbing at his right eye and yawning.
“Looks like just barely.” Diavolo chimed in.
“I AM NOT A CHIHUAHUA!” Luke cried. His hot sexy angel friend chuckled behind him. Simeon's shirt was hardly covering his muscled chest. Dark hair still rumbled from his night asleep, I looked away. Right at Mammon who was watching me closely.
“Getting a little hot in here for you, human?” He mocked me.
“Jealous that it’s not over you?” I hissed back. He growled turning away from me. Chuckling I knelt to whisper. “Don't worry, I can make it up to you, later.” His eyes glowed as he looked back at me. I only smirked standing back up. I gave the newly arrived angels a plate each. The last person to show up for my brunch was Solomon, the only other human here. Yet that was stretching the term.
He winked at Lucifer and Diavolo sitting together in front of the smoker. I smirked back at him. Everyone knew that the two lords of Devildom were a little too close, if you knew what I mean. Beel finished his plate first. He looked around. Everyone had eaten.
“Did you have something to eat?” he asked me. I smiled and nodded. With the spoon still in the bowl I held out what was left of the salad. His smile was catching. His handsome face split wide as he took it from me.
“You have really begun to fit in here.” Lucifer had come up behind me. I turned to smirk at him.
“Well since I’m stuck here for now, thought I should make the best of it.” I shrugged one shoulder. He folded his arms across his chest, one gloved hand cradling his chin.
“Do you like it here, human?” he asked. I smiled looking down at his brothers and the other students in the house.
“When I was first brought here I had my doubts.” I ginned recalling how he told Mammon of all demons to keep me safe. “But they grow on you, ya know?” I asked him. He smiled back lowering his arm to rest upon the other. He looked over his brothers with a fond expression.
“Yes, I suppose they do.” He patted my arm before walking off with Diavolo. Mammon stated he had something or other to do and left. Luke rushed after Lucifer yapping about the Chihuahua thing once more. Simeon followed shaking his head at the absurdity he was watching.
Levi and Beel walked away into the house absentmindedly of each other. Asmo and Satan came up to me to offer help cleaning up. I thanked them as they found where I had placed the box of garbage bags. One by one the seven brothers slipped away. Solomon finished last stating he was off to study. Like the ass needed too. I glared after him.
When the stuff from the first meal was taken care off Asmo and Satan left me as well. That was fine, I had expected nothing less. A day alone sitting outside what more fun could a human like me ask for.
I stretched out in the lawn chair I had brought out for this purpose. Flipping open a book I had borrowed from Levi I began to read. It didn’t take long to be disturbed. Another thing you got used to in the Devildom! Privacy meant very little to demons.
“Human?” A strong questioning voice called from above me. Lifting my eyes upward I saw a glowing face looking back down at me. Belphegor, Lord of Sloth, was lounging in the tree above me.
“Yes?” I asked arching an eyebrow. This was unusual. The youngest of the brothers tended to keep to himself. One hardly saw him out of his room unless it was for classes. Even then it took threatening him with Lucifer to get him up!
“I’m curious…” he yawned. “Just why would you put forth all this effort for us?” His eye shined with interest as he watched me.
“Yeah, I was wondering that as well.” Mammon had returned, dragging behind him a slightly unhappy Beelzebub. Levi, still with his magazine, sat by my feet, nodding. Beelzie rubbed at his stomach as he looked longingly at the slow cooking pig.
“I just wanted to do something nice for all of you. A way of saying thank you for well, not eating me!” I chuckled. They looked around, not meeting my eyes.
“It was a bit difficult.” Beel stated turning those deep longing eyes on me. I found some suckers I had and tossed them to him. There were only four left but he grinned as if I had just given him all the money in the world. It was so easy to please him!
Asmo appeared to have wondered over, more distracted with his mirror than with what we were discussing. “Does this rouge look to dark on me?” he asked. I snorted. Was he actual wearing any? I thought.
“It blends in perfectly with your flawless skin!” I told him. He blushed, fanning himself with his hand.
“Oh, it’s not flawless! I work hard to make it look so.” He smiled at me. “I have this lovely new face scrub… well you will just have to come bathe with me tonight and we can both try it!” he gushed. I nodded my agreement. Like that was the first time this guy asked me to do something slightly sexual!
Glancing up I saw Beelzie had finished the suckers. Belphegor was no longer in the tree. When had he slunk off? I glanced back to the hungry demon. “Mammon I have some Grimm on this card. I can’t go and leave the pig by itself but I don’t like to torture Beel. Could you take him into town for something to eat?” Mammon looked at the card I held out to him. I swear I saw dollar signs in his eyes when I added… “Feel free to get yourself a little something for the trouble.” He snatched the card from my loose fingers. Kissing it he snagged his brothers sleeve. I giggled what a demon!.
Asmo stayed with me trying out new creams and beauty products that would make my skin look not so sweaty! I groaned try sitting outside in the Devildom cooking a pig and not be sweaty! Yet this was why I cherished every minute with these weird band of brothers!
