---Paige’s POV---

I sighed again while I was looking over all the Intel that we had recovered from Kale’s hideouts. As soon as we found out that mom and dad were still alive, the vampires had offered to scout ahead and see if they could find anything in the other strongholds. And so they did; I had been worried about them, hoping that the hunters or Lucius’ clan weren’t waiting for them but they returned safely.

They managed to salvage a lot of files and Intel-reports, and I mean a lot. We were already two weeks after my captivity and so far, we haven’t managed to search through half of the documents. Well, the massive amount of work wasn’t the only reason it took so long.

A groan escaped my lips when a kiss was pressed on the crook of my neck, sending a pleasurable shiver over my body. Jacob smirked slightly, knowing what an effect he had on me. His lips stayed on my skin, placing soft kisses that barely touched me. He stopped at the spot right under my ear, where he buried his nose in my hair and inhaled deeply.

“Jacob.” I whined half-heartedly, the files still in my hands. A low chuckle filled the room but that was the only reaction I received of him; he kept teasing the skin around his mark, gently biting down.

I growled lowly before I rolled the files up and swatted him on the head. “If you keep distracting me, we’ll never find my parents.” Jacob growled lowly while he wrapped his arms around my waist, dragging me closer to him. “I just want some of my mate’s attention. I feel a little bit deprived.”

Rolling my eyes at his fake sad expression, I pushed some files towards him; “Then help me read these! The sooner they’re done, the sooner we can make a plan and go find them.” Jacob groaned slightly while he loosened his hold. “Hey, you suggested yourself that we should go and find them if they didn’t come to us.”

Jacob’s face became calm while he replied, “I know, I know. But still, wouldn’t be easier if we decided who would come with us first?” he leaned against the wall with his shoulder, folding his arms in front of him. “That way, there will be more helping hands for this task.”

I laughed slightly, shaking my head. “You just want this over with so you can have your wicked way with me huh?” I teased him, looking up at him through my eyelashes. Jacob licked his lips slowly, huskily replying “Perhaps.” My cheeks warmed up while I looked away from Jacob’s darkening eyes, back to the files on the desk.

“Fine.” I groaned, throwing the file I had back on the wobbly pile next to my seat. “I want Nick to come, definitely.” Jacob nodded while he pushed himself of the wall and flopped down on the couch opposite me, crossing his legs on the armrest. “Done.” He thought for a moment, a slight frown on his face while he stared at the ceiling.

“The triplets?” he suggested, his voice uncertain while he looked at me. I shook my head, answering him; “Joshua still has too much silver in his system. The doctor won’t allow him out of pack-grounds. You know that Eric and David will constantly fret about their brother if you force them to come.” I added when Jacob’s frown turned unpleasant.

He sighed slightly. “I know. I wasn’t really considering it.” I smiled slightly before I crumbled a blank piece of paper together and tossed it towards him. It landed smack in the middle of his face. Jacob jolted slightly before he playfully scowled at me. “What was that for?”
