'"Love is the silent, unwavering duty that we willingly bear for the ones we hold dear."

Xavier POV

"How are you still so calm and self-composed? He threatened your sister. It is really hard not to let my anger get the best of me right now," Will asked me a little while later when we were driving back after dropping Ron back.

"Maddie once told me that a leader who does not get blinded by anger is a true leader" I smiled as I recalled her words, "the British mafia is critical to us right now. We must act rational. Also you are pretending as if I didn't 'accidentally' drop Ron at the stairs".

Will nodded as he turned his head around to look at the mesmerizing city lights outside the window.

"Wait, why are you turning right? My favorite restaurant is left from here" he asked as he turned on the radio playing our shared playlist.

"Surprise! I promised I'll treat you well." I said as the car stopped at the red light, feeling a bit nervous of what I was going to do next. I slightly shifted in my seat and drummed my fingers on the steering wheel.

Everything is at risk, this is the only way. We don't have a choice. I need to be take the chance, even if he thinks I'm crazy.

Will let out a laugh as he realized where we were heading to, breaking me from my thoughts and making me feel a little at ease.

3rd POV

Amid the rhythmic melody of the flowing river, the riverside stall came alive under the soft glow of dim lanterns. Seated across from each other, the two men savored the intimacy of the late-night atmosphere. The air was infused with the fragrance of sizzling noodles, their steam rising like a romantic mist. In the quietude, their eyes spoke volumes, sharing secrets that only the night dared to overhear. Soft laughter mingled with the rustling leaves as they twirled noodles with chopsticks, their smiles a testament to the unspoken connection. The river whispered tales of love, as the night embraced their shared warmth beneath the moonlit sky.

"Will Rae Roberts, will you be my husband" suddenly asked Xavier

Will spat out his spoonful of chicken soup on Xavier's face in shock, "Are you crazy? Wait no, the better question is are you drunk? Why did you drive the car in such a state?" he exclaimed hurriedly checking if Xavier has a fever or not.

In the dimly lit stall, Xavier squared his shoulders, his eyes reflecting a blend of determination and vulnerability. With a deep breath, he turned to Will.

"Will," Xavier began, the weight of responsibility evident in his voice, "I never thought I'd consider such an arrangement, but the safety and unity of the Royals is at stake. We need a solid alliance, one that transcends mere blood ties. With the coronation towards the end of the month, it is important that I have a queen besides me. It might seem like a symbolic position but with the Rubie on the loose I need to have a vigilant and trustworthy eye back at home. Traditionally, the life partner of the Boss almost has the same powers as him. Our marriage will make your position stronger without raising much suspicion. Will you consider entering into a contractual marriage with me?"

"X, will they accept me? How would everyone react? They will see right through the lies. You and I don't even love each other like that." Will felt an ache in his heart as he said that. He was scared of what the future beholds if they went ahead with this absurdity. How can they fool not just their families but all the mafias in such a short period?

"It's not about sentiment Will; it's a strategic move to shield our people from looming threats. Together, we can create a bond that shields us all from the storm brewing at our doorstep. It's a pact not of the heart, but of survival. I have a plan, all you have to say is yes." Xavier smiled, attempting to make Will feel better about the whole situation.

When has Will ever said no to Xavier?
