"Sh*t!"

I cursed as I flung my body forward and narrowly escaped the falling rocks that now sat where I had once been

"Now THAT was too close!" I yelled as I stood up and kept frantically searching for a way out.

*record scratch*

Now, you may be wondering how this happened, and how I got into his mess. Well, it all started a few days ago...

"Really Skye? A mansion in the middle of the forest?" I asked my best friend as she finished reading the invitation she had received.

"Yup, it's apparently on the edge of a cliff or something, so the view of the ocean is amazing!" She dreamt as I stared at the invitation in her hands. "I don't know, seems strange. I also have multiple questions that have yet to be answered. For example, how on earth did April even get the permission to rent the place?" I questioned as Skye shrugged.

"I have no idea, and neither does anyone else... So are you coming?"

I thought about it for a few seconds. "Fine, I might as well since i don't have anything else-" I began to say when Skye cut me off "Yes!" She threw her hands in the air as she stood up.

What's got her so hyped up? It's just a sleepover

I stood up from the bed I was sitting on and turned to her. "So it's the day after tomorrow right?" I asked as she nodded, finally over her excitement. I walked over to my desk and wrote the date down, as well as the time she had previously told me.

"Well thanks for inviting me" I said as she headed towards the door, her schoolbag in hand. "No problem, anything for my best friend!" She smiled as she waved goodbye and walked down the street towards her house.

I shut the door behind me and went back to my room, falling back onto my bed. I thought back to Skye, my best friend since year 7.

We had met when we were assigned together in a group project, and our friendship just grew after that. We were part of a small group of friends, all of them having best friends within the group as well. Our group was quite odd. We seemed to have clashing personalities but in the end, we were all really good friends.

I sat up and went downstairs to eat something since I just got back from school. I turned on the TV and started to watch a new anime series I had started yesterday.

A few hours later, I finished the series and I checked the time on my phone. 6:30. I saw a notification from my mum, telling me that she'll be home really late and to not wait for her. I sighed and stood up

My mother and father had divorced a long time ago, around when I was in year 4. It didn't affect me all that much and soon, it just became a way of life. I have an older brother who's studying in England at the moment, so it's usually my mum and I at home. Recently however, my mum has been staying at work really late due to unknown reasons, so I've adapted to staying on my own.

I made myself some dinner and ate it in front of the TV while watching something else, one of the few advantages of living being home alone. After finishing, I went to my room and went to sleep a few hours later.

My day went on as it usually would, with the exception of lunch.

I walked to the spot where my friends and I would eat, my friends sitting there with joyous looks on their faces.

Is everyone that excited about tomorrow? It's just a sleepover.
