The Family

I don't usually go home this early because I don't wanna see the faces of my sisters, and vice versa. They have this funny face or should I say disgusted face that they really show when they see me. Even some of the maids think that I'm a good for nothing daughter and almost all of them don't respect me as their employer's daughter.

Mr. Hideo and Mrs. Dian Tanaka, which are my parents by the way, have 5 childre. Daphne, the eldest. After her is Izumi then Tobio, my only brother. Then there's me and our youngest which is nine years younger than me, Ryza.

"They are all in the dining room miss" one of the maids walked in front of me then pulled the chair for me. They they started to serve the dinner and we begun to eat silently, the only thing one can hear is the clinging spoon and forks.

The silence was interrupted by someone clearing her throat, which is my mom. It is clearly to get everyone's attention and it also means to urge my father to address the matter at hand.

"Oh right! How's school Rui? Did you make trouble again?" He asked casually.

"Not at all my dear. The school gave me a call awhile ago saying they have a pleasant news for us and Rui ought to tell us about it right?" She said smiling widely to me father then looked at me.

"Really? What is it? Tell us now." My father said eagerly.

I can't do anything but to show it to them. I fished out the enevelope from my bag then showed them. They all gasped, which somehow like exaggerated to my ears. My mom and dad's fake smiles faded and my elder sisters eyed the envelope with jealousy written on their faces. My brother gave me a genuine smile and had a proud look on his eyes.

"Good job sis!" My brother said waking them all from their trance.

"H-how come you receive something like that?" Izumi asked pointing at the envelope.

"I don't know. I tried asking them but they only gave me vague answers." I shrugged then continue eating.

"Mom! Dad! You have to talk to the president! How come she got that invitation? When even I can't get one and I did have high marks. I'm too of the batch. I excel in everything! How come I didn't get one? When this good for nothing have one?" Daphne looked at me with anger,  it ain't my fault they chose me over you.

"And how come any student from their school get invites?" Izumi interjected. "They are like the worst school ever. They are the worst of the worst."

" You don't have to be so rude when giving your insights my dear sisters. And the headmaster of our school states that they can't be controlled because they are too smart for their own good. And somehow geniuses tend to be rebels." Tobio reasoned out then gave me a wink.

"It's good that someone from our family's getting that envelope, this is really a fantastic news. Don't go getting into more trouble my lovely daughter. You have to comply to everything they ask and most importantly I have to tell this to your grandpa, he'll be delighted." My dad said scraping the last bits of his dessert. "By the way, I must give you reward for this, state anything you want and I'll get them"

"Anything that I want?"

Yes. Anything. Just tell me and I'd get it" dad winked at me and smiled.

" I want my own place"
They all gasped but I can see a grin on their eyes. It's what I want for so long and they know it, they doesn't effect me to have that kind of independence, that's why even if I've talked to them about it for many times, they don't easily give in. They always want to make my life miserable.

"Are you sure that's what you really want? We have a lovely house, you don't have to clean it unlike when you move out and have your own place. This house has been your home since you are a little girl, do you really want to leave this place? You have a good and easy life in here"mom explained and looking like she really mean it. I know she wanted me out but at the same time she want to make my life miserable.

"Mom's right Rui. You'll give us all a peace of mind if you are staying here because we'll know for sure you're far from harm's way and it's difficult to be alone. Tobio plead me.

"I appreciate it brother but I'm off legal age and I want to have my own place. I'll leave it done or later which makes it easier to adjust if I start now and contrary to what you have said mom,I didn't have a good and easy life in her." My mom and I look at each other sizing each other up but before she could say anything I turned to my father. " Is that okay with you dad?"

" Well who am I to say no at times like this. I've seen that this is really what you want, so yeah, I'll give it to you" he said then stood up then walked up to me. "Come on, give day a hug"

I decided to follow dad right after, I don't have the energy to deal with them just yet. Upon arriving at my room, I decided to take a shower so I can go to sleep now.I pulled the first PJ that I saw then turned some music on and got to the shower.

Just after some minutes I was done and fully dressed. After getting out of the shower, I walked to my vanity and saw my sister, Ryza, lying on my bed while watching on her phone.

"Who told you to come here little one?"

"Just wanna sleep with you tonight Rui... And don't go calling me little one because our height different is only a mere five inches, that's basically shows how little you are." I frowned at her but she didn't even looked at me while insulting me. That's just her, a bitch sister.

"Aside from insulting me or like 'belittleing'me, what's the real reason you want to sleep here with me?"

She suddenly looked at me in the eyes but quickly averted it and said in a small voice, "I just wanna spend more time with you before you leave cause I'll gonna miss you"

Then small beads of tears fall from her eyes, I got up and walked to her then gave her a hug. " I didn't know you were such a crybaby and yet you act like a grown woman" I chuckled but a year fell from my eyes.

"Did they saw you come in here?" She cried for a quarter of an hour and she's barely hiccuping now.

"No. All's been okay and covered and I used the closet door."

"I always forgot we have one" I smiled looking at the closet door. She asked dad for it because she always want to see me but mom always objects and somehow dad approved of it. Ryza has been our spoiled baby which basically means that what she always wants, she always gets. Except spending too much time with me. They think I'll teach her to be a rebel if she spend too much time with me.

She yawned then hugged me, I hugged her back and we slept like that.
