The In-Laws

Christmas is approaching so are we exams. it's been two months since I receive the invitation and add far as I can say, I have been doing a good job. I've passed all my exams and tests with a perfect score. I've passed every output and practicals and every requirement needed, showing them how a good student I was.

I've moved to my condo a month ago and asked Rose to live with me so she doesn't have to travel an hour everyday. Her parents are replace to let their baby girl but when I personally asked and assured them that it was a high end place and security's tight they somehow obliged with the condition of her mother to sleep there twice a week. It was not a problem cause dad got me a big unit, it had the big bedrooms with a bathroom each. It has a big living room and kitchen. Rose's mom is fun to be with so it isn't a problem.

"Dude, your place later?" Stephen asked me while packing his things away.

"OVERNIGHT!!!" Mae shouted and that made other people look at us.

" Sure, if it's okay with you lot. My place it is."

"Hey Rui! Good thing you haven't left yet. I've got something for you. Here." It was Gel, the SC vice president.

He gave me an envelope that looks like the one I receive months ago but it got a print on it's back that says  Merry Christmas. "It came from the Ashford International"

"Thanks Gel. See you tomorrow"

My brother let me borrow his car for now. We drove for almost ten minutes. After arriving, they made their selves at home and I decided to prepare some lunch. Halfway through, Rose helped me. We were on the kitchen for almost an hour.

"Ahhhh! The smell's delicious. What's for lunch?" I looked day the counter and saw Mariz sniffing like a dog.

"Buttered shrimp on which you aren't allowed" I smiled at her but she just rolled her eyes and muttered something about antihistamine. I laughed then added, " there's vegetable stew and pork stake."

"Lunch is ready." They all came to the kitchen and we made ourselves comfortable on the kitchen counter.
We chatted on which subject we will review first.

"Can we take all the exams tomorrow?"

"Maybe we can. I'll go ask" I volunteered.

"By the way, let's see the envelope sis. Maybe it's  an important letter for you lot."

"I'll go get it" I walked to the living room and fished the envelope out. they were all waiting eagerly when I came back. I opened the letter and saw an exquisite letter.

I invite you to the Christmas Party of Ashford International at the Palazzo Grande at 7 in the evening of  this coming December 22.
We would love for you to come and please wear formal attire.

I've read it to them and they all staff at me wide eyed. Then suddenly Rose shrieked.

" We can make that excuse because the party's two days after the exam, but if we are allowed to finish them a tomorrow, then you have more time to prepare for the party." She suddenly stood up and run to her room. "Gotta check my kit"

" What's with her?" We all shrugged. Stephen and Mariz decided to put the dishes away saying that the dishwasher made it a lot easier and thanking God for me having it. Then we decided to review what we can and just ordered something for dinner. We slept late chatting, forgetting about the upcoming test.

The sun was rising and the sunlight leaking between the curtains was tormenting me. I decided to get up to look at the time, it's barely six in the morning and our exams starts at eight. I just started working at the kitchen and by the time I was, everybody was up.

"Eat your breakfast you sleepyheads!" They made their way and sat eating their breakfast while complaining about hangovers.

As we arrived, I asked the professor if we could  take all the exams this day saying they will all help me to prepare for the party this Sunday night and he agreed. So we took all our exams and by the time we are done, they were all complaining about how hungry they are. And after coming home, they decided to get drunk.

We just lazed around the following days so when Saturday cam, Rose was panicking too much.

"Calm down Rose."

"How can I call down? It's tomorrow night, you have to be perfect. I mean, it's Ashford sis. You have to be the best of you"

We let her do the preparation because it was the only way to calm her down. Sunday came and as early as there in the afternoon, Rose decided to start dolling me up. She made me soak for a good  thirty minutes with her vanilla scented bath soap. I just let her do what she wanna do because if not she will do berserk. After the bath she made me close my eyes and put on my make up, it was too long and am getting bored. After some time she moved to do my hair and she set it up to a gorgeous bun. And she let me wear my favorite part earring. Them she help me to put my dress on. It's a midnight blue dress, it's isn't too revealing as it only shows my back anfmd it's a mermaid cut.

It was a good thing that my place is at the high end area so it was just a short drive to the venue. The valet took my car to the parking area.

And as soon as I entered the building and saw how they incorporated the modern style with a palace-looking place amazed me. There's the biggest chandelier I've ever seen in the middle of the hall. The owner's taste shows how fantastic and luxurious he is. Someone met me halfway through and ushered me to the top floor.

"Enjoy the night mademoiselle and a happy Christmas" the usherette smiled then bowed.

I gave my invitation to the man at the door and he let me in. As soon as I walked in the hall, I literally gasped at what I was seeing. The reception hall is nothing compared to the luxurious ambiance of the place, I can't even explain how beautiful it is.

I looked all over the place and got some drinks from the waiters circling the hall. I had many little shots from well-known personalities. And some are the alumni of the Ashford's Special Elite. They are my senior.

"Ms. Tanaka, can you please come with me please? The hosts need you at the front" a waitress ushered me below the raised platform and there I saw someone I knew.

"Goodness! I thought you have left already. I know how you have hated this kind of gathering bit it's a necessity. I'm sorry darling." It was an aunt that I haven't seen for a long time, their business are all over  the world and they don't really stay at one country for too long. It was aunt Kerry Blueman and beside her is uncle Scott Blueman, her husband.

"I-it's okay aunt... I've come to learn to adapt to things after this years" I smiled at her. " I didn't know you both will be here aunt, uncle."

" How can we not? It's out party darling" aunt Kerry nudged her husband and he just smiled at me.

"By the way, we really have to come today darling because we heard you are one of the invited elites-to-be." She touched my face and gave me a motherly smile while looking at me with awe." You've grown to be a smart and fine young lady, it won't really be a mistake to have you in the family"

"That depends on him love" he hugged aunt Kerry then smiled at me. Then the emcee spoke from the platform that called all our attention but my mind wanders at what aunt Kerry said, I didn't seem to understand it that much even how hard I think about it.
