You were always one for superstition, the ideas of good luck charms and astrology was always so fascinating, though you never truly believed it. You were the kind that many would consider lucky, though this was a bit of an over statement , it was more like... "Immune to misfortune". You could pass a tough test with the lowest required score or somehow complete an odd request like untangle a swing set, heck, your old middle school had asked you to help with sunday school attendance, and you somehow did good! Though you never really gained anything out of it, just some words of good praise. You were the literal jack of all trades, a kid with promising potential but no direction in life. But if you were so lucky, then how did you wake up here? In the middle of a forest with nothing but your bag and whatever contents it contained.
(Y/n): "ok... Where on God's green earth am i?" you asked as you walked around for a bit lugging your bag with you, trying to recall what it was you were doing to end up here. Were you heading to school? You did have your book bag and you were in in your uniform. Couldn't be though, schools were closed rn. With no real aim or sense of where you were, you just decided to choose a direction and hope you'd stumble upon some form of civilization, be it a town or private property.
About an hour or so later you you had just finished meeting and running away from what YOU thought was a sweet little girl named rumia. It turns out she was not in fact a sweet little girl... Or human, as far as you could tell. You got away from her(thank heavens), and ended up coming across an odd box with what looked like... Purple kanji? They were just floating overhead. A squirrel ran up to the box only to flee as the kanji started to follow it. Not really having any sense of self worth, you decided to walk up to the box and peer inside.
There was a girl inside, dressed in ragged cloths, a short sleeved grey hoodie, a blue short skirt, eviction notices pasted all over her and she looked a little more thin than what most considered healthy. She was clutching a black cat doll, and appeared to be asleep. Night was almost upon you and you didn't really want to leave her alone out here so you try waking her up so she can tag along. Who knows, maybe she knows where you are?
(Y/n): "um... Excuse me, hello?" your voice seemed to wake her up almost instantly, as she seemed confused by your presence.
???: "Oh... hi, im sorry but who are you?", she seemed unphased by your presence though she did sound somewhat annoyed. "Well... Its not nice to keep people waiting" it was at this point you realized you'd just been starring at her blankly for a while
(Y/n): "O-oh, right. My name is (y/n) and i was wondering if you could direct me towards (insert your home here), if its not to mush trouble"
???: "mh... I've never heard of that place, oh, You must be an outsider."
(Y/n): "outsider, Outsider to what?"
???: "gensokyo, a land where magic, gods and yokai roam freely and all that" she seemed to expect your doubts, but was suprized by serious look on your face. Of course she didnt know that you had just escaped rumia, and you did know a little bit about yokai so rumia being one definitely checked out.
(Y/n): "well, how do i leave gensokyo?"
???: "the hakurei shrine maiden has the power to send you back to the outside world, or... Really anyone that can manipulate the barrier. You should probably head to the human village first and look for someone to take you there"
(Y/n): "couldn't you just take me there?" it did seem like she knew where this "shrine maiden" was, so her taking you definetley wasn't out of the question.
???: "oh well you see, I'm a poverty god, so bad luck follows me wherever I go. Im sure you wouldnt want someone like me traveling with you.."
(Y/n): " well im pretty much immune to misfortune, infact im seen as pretty lucky back home, so i dont think your luck will have any affect on me." she seemed hesitant to believe you. " need more proof? I just got most of the information i needed from you"
???: "... Well... When you put it like that... I guess i'll guide you. Oh, i didn't even tell you my name. Im shion yorigami"
(Y/n): "alright then ms. shion we should probably go to the human village you mentioned, where do we go for that" shion gets out of her box, picking it up and begins walking in another direction. You follow her as the moon begins to rise.
Literally not even an hour later
(Y/n) :"runrunrunrun!" a thunder storm had somehow snuck up on you two and you got caught in the rain, shion seems to be silently cursing herself for bringing you misfortune while you're keeping an eye out for shelter until...
(Y/n): "there!" you point to an old, worn down shed, the door violently opening and closing as its caught in the wind. The two of you manage to get, though you have no way to keep the door locked.
(Y/n): "see? Shelter. I told you Im immune to misfortune." she didn't argue with you. for what it was worth, you were right. Instead of being out in the rain, you both were now inside an old, cold and empty tool shed. "We should probably get some rest, are you sure you're good sleeping in that box? I have a sweater(hoodie) in my bag that you could have." The box was pretty much soaked, almost melted by the rain
Shion: n-no... I couldn't, something worse might happen..." she saw the puppy dog look on your face and did a full 180. "On second thought, maybe it wouldn't hurt to borrow it for the night."
(Y/n): "oh right, ms. Shion!" she gave you her attention. "If you're really worried about your luck, then i might have something for you." you search through your bag and pull out an odd charm.
"Its called an evil eye, its said to scare away bad luck and what not" she seemed touched by the gesture and began to put it on.
Shion: " o-oh thank you, it... Looks very nice. Oh... and you can just call me shion."
So there you both lay, your bag used as a pillow, your sweater as blanket(though an inaffective one) and a good luck charm tied to your guide's wrist. As you begin to nod off, you cant help but wonder if any of this was real or just a weird dream , and if it was real, what would tomorrow bring.
Authors note: ya that's chapter one, you could probably tell that this is my first time writing. I plan to continue with this story though not with this horrid quality of writing. In the end, i wanted to throw my hat in the ring for a (reader x femcharacter) story, and as far as i know, there arent any shion yorigami stories so...
