chapter 6: odd jobs can be entertaining

It had been a few days since your encounter with Doremy, you hadn't heard anything from her since. You'd just been doing your regular routine, reading fortunes, taking on odd jobs, babysitting shion, the usual. One day you got hired for a completely unorthodox job, one that might make you some enemies. Steal the Moriya shrine maidens bra. Shion was creeped out by the idea of what the employer would want it for, Joon was feeling pretty bored so she decided to tag along and you were picturing the look on Sanae's face when she realizes what happened. She had been in the village a few times, not threatening you like Reimu, but still condemning your tarot services, often claiming that the power of her gods was stronger than your cards, business almost sank that day. She wasn't a bad girl, in fact she was rather sweet, but she'd still been causing problems for you and that was starting to get annoying. So now we go back to you, Joon and Shion, tracking up the mountain on a mission to steal the Moryia shrine maidens bra.

Shion: "how... Much... Farther?" You'd been walking for a while. you originally tried having shion fly you there, but it became quickly apparent that she didn't have the strength.

Joon: "no clue, just keep walking." You had made a decent way up the mountain by now, somehow managing to evade the tengus on patrol.

Shion: "what does the employer even want with that thing anyway?"

(Y/n): "i don't know, probably something lewd and understandable. What matters is that he's paying us."

Shion: "you're starting to sound like Joon..." You didn't know how to respond to that, but Joon did!

Joon: "whats that supposed to mean?" She was eyeing her sister as though to chew her out. Shion just ignored it.

(Y/n): "hey, guys. I think we're here." Indeed you were, a shrine that looked well tended to lay a few feet infront of you. You were hiding in the tree line to avoid detection.

Joon: "so, how do we do this?"

(Y/n): "huh?"

Joon: " you didn't think it be this easy, did you? There are two gods hanging around here. Shion and i could take em easy but you'd probably die in the crossfire." Thats fair.

(Y/n): " how about this, when we actually SEE these gods, Shion will go up to them and beg for cash. Then you and I will sneak in while they arent looking." Shion mindlessly nodded her head and Joon was about to protest until the sound of yelling could be heard from the shrine.

A small girl with a weird looking hat was complaining to Sanae about something, seemingly distracted. You were about to send in Shion but you didnt need to. A crow tengu falling from a tree, camera in hand, quickly grabbed their attention. The two exchanged some unkind words with the bird before engaging in a danmaku battle. Now was your chance as you grabbed shions arm and started racing towards the shrine with Joon close behind, small junks of earth being tossed about as the terrain was being destroyed and dust making it difficult to notice you and your squad. Upon entering the structure you closed the bamboo paper door, though this didn't do much as there seemed to be plenty of holes in the thing.

(Y/n): "alright. Now all we have to do is find Sanaes room"

Joon:"you do know that for us this is a waste of time, but for you its life or death. Right?" Joon seems to be becoming aware of the absurdity of this situation.

(Y/n): "yes, but if we complete the job we prove our dominance over the Moriya shrine. They wont condemn us anymore."

Joon: "im pretty sure stealing the shrine maiden's bra will have the opposite affect."

(Y/n): "either way, we're almost done, we just need to find her cloths." The three of you started walking about the shrine hoping to find what you were looking for. Joon was in the front since she was more of a brawler, you in the center since you're pretty damn weak, and Shion in the back since you didn't know where else to put her. However this order became completely unnecessary as you idiots remembered that you were in a shrine and not some mansion.

Joon: "what are we doing?" She decided to open a door to her left only to be met face to face with a woman far larger than any of you. You had heard about this woman, one of Sanae's gods, one Yasaka kanako.

Kanako: "well, what do we have here?" And she was mocking you. "Donations should be left outside, what are you doing in here?" Wait nevermind. It seems this divine brute was drunk. You decided to capitalize off that

(Y/n): "well, you see Ms. We lent Sanae something the last time she went to the village and we've come to get it back. Cuz we need it." If you were by yourself, she'd probably be able to tell it was a bold face lie.

Kanako:"really? What did you lend her?" You were thinking of something until you remembered you had a harmonic in your back pocket, you could probably pretend that that was in Sanae's room

(Y/n): "my harmonica, Sanae saw it and immediately wanted to try it so i lent it to her."

Kanako: "i guess that sounds like Sanae..." She was walking away. "Wait! Then why are these clowns here?"

(Y/n): "protection"
Joon: "concern"
Shion: "an over reliance on his immunity to my powers."

Kanako: "..." She then looked to the torn door, finally paying attention to the commotion outside, then back to you. "Good enough" she said as she started charging outside in an attempt to join the calamity. The three of you were now alone in the shrine, so you decided to continue looking for Sanae's bra.

Shion: "maybe its in here?" Shion opened a door to revel a few futons and upon walking in, you noticed a suitcase in the corner. Bingo. You opened it and immediately saw what you were looking for.

(Y/n): "got it!" The sounds outside were starting to die down, so you had hurry out of here. "Alright. Joon, put this in your bag and then lead the way out of here." Realizing that this sad excuse for a job was nearly over, Joon did as told and started bolting for the door. Upon exiting the shrine you noticed its residents restraining the tengu from earlier. It was entertaining, but you had to leave before the more sober members of their trio noticed you. And indeed you managed to get a good distance down the mountain before you encountered any real trouble. A wolf tengu, one you and shion were all so familiar with

Momiji: "halt! I thought i told you that humans weren't allowed on the mountain"

(Y/n): "and i thought i told you that id go where ever i please" this wasn't the first time you and Shion had been on the mountain, and it wasn't the first time you've talked back to momiji. The first time she told you to leave, she explained why humans weren't allowed on the mountain but it wasn't a satisfactory answer. So, you decided to spite her and sneak past her onto the mountain whenever you felt like it. " besides this is MY mountain, why wouldn't i be here?"

Momiji: "*sigh*, just leave. Please?" It also wasn't the first time you insisted it was your mountain.

(Y/n): "whatever you say momiji" and with that you had basically bypassed the only real danger on the mountain.

Finally at the village again, you went to meet the employer, a tall man, wearing glasses and with short whit hair. You were actually wrong about his intentions though, he just wanted Sanae's bra because it was from the outside world, nothing more, nothing less. Welp that was an interesting diversion and the days almost up, so its time to go home.

Upon entering the house, you noticed it was quieter than usual. Assuming that the sisters were asleep you made your way to your room only to find both of them lying on the floor, definitely asleep. How? Didn't matter, what did matter however was getting Joon back to her room, so you scooped her up and started back there. She looked so peaceful, it was adorable. Upon reentering your room again you picked up shion and placed her on your bed amd then got in yourself.

(Y/n): "good night Shion" she looked just as peaceful as Joon. "Hopefully Doremy pulls through..." You weren't necessarily tired but being im the same bed next to Shion made you just want to close your eyes and hold her close. So you did. Good night.

Authors note: a nice little distraction, next chapter is in progress and Im also working on "a terribly written Eientei Harem" since that area has the best harem material in all of gensokyo. Toodles
