its morning and your still in that shed, logic dictates that last night wasn't a fever dream

(Y/n): "well, im awake, im in a shed, and theres a poverty god next to me. I guess i really am in gensokyo." Your attention was then drawn to the aforementioned poverty god as she began to wake up.

Shion: "oh your awake, i guess you still want me to take you to the village" you nod and then begin to organize your stuff, it doesn't seem like anything went missing or stolen, much to shion's surprise. "Maybe that charm you gave me is good luck"

(Y/n): "well... Technically it scares away bad luck, but ya maybe it is". You both left the shed in search of this 'human village'.

Nothing to interesting happened but you do start to contemplate something. The outside world isn't exactly in the best condition right now, both because of the pandemic and broadly speaking... The economy. You push these thoughts to the back of your head as shion points out the village walls.

Shion: "well, we're here. What exactly do you plan on doing from here

( y/n): "well im not sure if you've heard... But the outside world isn't exactly the most ideal place to be right now. Not unless you're immune to disease (which im not)"

Shion: " oh, so do you plan on staying? My sister and i have a place in the village, if you can offer her something valuable i'm sure she'll let you stay

(Y/n): " I didnt know you had a home, when i found you you were sleeping in a box"

Shion: " well its more of Jo'on's home, i get locked out so often that i might as well be homeless. She still lets me in every now and again, so i guess its fine"

(Y/n): " mmh, and why do you think she'll let me stay there?"

Shion: " well... You seem competent, also that bag of yours seems like it might have something Jo'on would want."

With that you entered the village only to be met with the judging gaze of the townsfolk. They were all wearing clothing akin to that of feudal japan so it made sense that you'd stand out and as for shion, well shion looked more homeless than [insert your idea of homeless], which says a lot. Aside from the initial stares, the village seemed mostly unfazed. They all went about their business as before

(Y/n): " so where does your sister live?"

Shion: " were almost there. Its not that big though. She always spends money the minute she gets her hands on it and im just poor to begin with." Low and behold she was right, you had arrived. The house looked like most of the other buildings in the village, if not a bit worn. The door was unlocked so you went in and upon entering you saw that it was littered with useless trinkets and cloths that seemed a bit too flashy. You also noticed that the house was actually kind of small, guess she wasn't lying.

Shion: " um... Jo'on im home, oh and i brought a guest.

Jo'on(presumably): " is it tenshi again? I don't think we have enough alcohol to keep that one satisfied

Shion: "no not this time, i brought an outsider and well, he's looking for a place to stay... So i was wondering..." As shion was about to finish her sentence, a smaller girl in flamboyant clothing walked into the room. Her gaze immediately fell upon you as she eyed you up and down.

Jo'on: " and you are...?"

(Y/n): " oh.... My name is (y/n), like your sister said im from the outside world and im looking for a place to stay."

Jo'on: " and why do you want stay here, dont you want to go back to the outside world?"

(Y/n): " well, the outside world isn't exactly in the best state right now. Its just kind of safer for me to stay here (Speaking of which i should probably see a doctor)

Jo'on: " alright, lets say i do let you stay, what can you offer me? You didn't think rent would be free did you?" You started digging through your bag, looking for something that could be seen as valuable. On an unrelated note, shion was a poverty god, was her sister a god too? If so, then of what? Finally you pull it out, "i don't think we have the same definition of valuable" you had pulled out a tarot deck.

Shion: " i think its kind of pretty" shion took the deck out of your hands and started looking through the different cards in the box. "We could probably sell these for a good price" jo'on walked over to shion and inspected the cards from over her shoulder

Jo'on: " i guess they'd sell well..."

(Y/n): " actually their tarot cards, some people believe they can be used to tell the future and will sometimes ask cartomancers to read their fortunes, im not one of these people, but i do know how to read them." Both girls looked at you with what can best be described as intrigue, then to each other.

Jo'on: " so... If i let you stay here, could you possibly charge people for your future card thing?" It was pretty obvious that she just wanted money. Shion seemed distracted by how pretty the cards were.

(Y/n): " sure, i dont really have anything else to offer, besides it should be harmless"

Jo'on: " then welcome, make yourself at home! Im pretty sure my worthless sister forgot to tell you who i am. Jo'on yoigami, the plague god." A plague god, huh? " there aren't really any rules, just don't go into my room and bring the money you earn to me so i can 'distribute' it properly." She then directed you to a small room down the hall, a guest room apparently. You started to settle yourself in, taking the things you had out of your bag and measuring their value, for a student you seem to have a lot of non-school related objects in there. Jo'on took what could be sold and let you keep the rest, from there you talked about how exactly you were going to do your tarot readings and where. After a few hours of planning, you had finally agreed on a plan(would plan be the right word) and decided to rest for the night with Jo'on going back to her room and Shion just kind of standing in your room.

(Y/n): " so wheres your room? Was it the box from yesterday?"

Shion: " no, i sleep on the floor. Jo'on doesn't let me sleep in the guest room even when no-ones using it. As for the boxes, i just sort of find them outside the hakurei shrine"

(Y/n): "huh, well do you want to sleep here? The bed seems big enough for both of us"

Shion: "..."

(Y/n): " oh, no i didn't mean anything like that. We slept in the shed yesterday so i assumed you'd be fine with it."

Shion: " i guess thats fine... Thanks." So with that, she climbed under the blanket and curled up into a ball, a few minutes later you decided it was time to sleep there really wasn't anything else to do for the day. So here you lay again, your guide(now roommate) curled up next to you, a new roof over your head and a pretty easy job. Shion was still wearing the charm you gave her, maybe it does work, nothing bad has really happened since you gave it to her. Maybe it does work?

Authors note: i told you id continue this. Its still bad writing but its bad writing i intend on completing. If you actually like this then thanks, it means a lot to somebody with no writing experience. And if you didn't, then i completely understand, i just hope you find the cringe entertaining
