After about twenty minutes of bickering on where to go, they finally decided to head to a local noodle bar. They entered the restaurant and took their seats at the table in the corner.
"No, I want to sit by the window," Wonho pouted.
"Seriously Wonho?" they two boys said in unison.
"It's my birthday dinner," he said sharply. "Please?" he pouted.
The two boys sighed and got up. Hyungwon and Changkyun sat across from Wonho, at the table by the windows, and began to look through the menu. They were discussing what they should get when Hyungwon and Wonho started bickering.
"I want shoyu ramen! Not spicy miso!" Wonho pouted.
"I'm telling you right now that you're going to like it! You said you like spicy food!"
"No! I want a shoyu ramen bowl!"
"Fine. but I'm getting the miso and when you try a bite and absolutely love it I'm not giving you any."
"Bet."
"Oh my god guys shut up. Hyungwon, stop trying to make him get spicy miso and Wonho, you sound like a five-year-old kid." Changkyun snapped. They both looked down and mumbled a quiet sorry. A few minutes later, the waitress came over and took their orders and gave them a pitcher of water. They waited for about twenty minutes just talking about how things are in Korea and the different cultures they thought were cool. Hyungwon felt comfortable. He loved Changkyuns company, even though he was on his phone half the time, he liked being with him. He also really liked being with Wonho. He felt as if he had known him for years.
"Here are your food guys!" the waitress said with a smile. She placed down the three bowls of ramyeon and three jjinppang-mandus. "Enjoy guys!"
The three boys looked between each other and immediately dug into the delicious food. They all hummed as they bit into the delicious steamed bun filled with pork, pickled onions, cucumber, kimchi mayo, and green onions. Hyungwon was the first to unwrap his chopsticks and dig into the delicious noodles.
"Hey let me try some, jerk," Wonho reached for his chopsticks.
"No you said you didn't want this kind," he said smugly as he pulled away his arm.
"Oh my god give me a bite," he opened his mouth and waited.
"Fine. Here," he scooped up the noodles and put them into Wonhos mouth. His eyes lit up as he chewed the spicy noodles.
"Oh my god it's amazing. I should have listened to you."
"I know. But it's mine and you were lame and got shoyu."
Wonho rolled his eyes and took a sip of his water. "What do you guys wanna do after this?"
"Can we get ice-cream? I don't know why but I'm really craving a mint chocolate chip ice cream," Changkyun laughed. "Oh or chocolate chip cookie dough mmm."
They all nodded in agreement and continued to eat their food. As Hyungwon paid for their meal the two other boys talked about what ice cream they were going to get. As they were leaving Wonho grabbed both boy's hands and ran down the street. He stopped at the crosswalk and smiled.
"In about eight-hundred feet, the destination will be on your right."
"I really hate you Wonho. I really do."
"Oh Changkyun, my precious little baby Changkyun, you know you love me."
He tightly squeezed both boy's hands and began running again. As they reached the ice cream shop out of breath, they smiled and began reading all the different kinds of ice-cream. It was early fall and all the ice cream shops were closed, except for this one. The only year-round ice cream shop near them. And luckily, Wonho lives right down the street so he can go any time he wants. He knows the menu by heart, and even works here in the summer. It was his space he went to calm down when he needed it. He also just really likes ice cream.
"Do you guys know what you want?" Hyungwon asked. The other two boys nodded and walked up to the counter.
"Can I have a mint chocolate chip please?"
"A chocolate-vanilla twist for me please."
"Black raspberry for me please."
The boy in the shop wrote down their orders and said they'll be right out. They took their seats at a bench next to the closed eating area. One by one they got up to get their ice creams and sit back down.
"What do you guys wanna do?" he licked his ice cream. " We could hang out at my place if you want," Wonho suggested. He looked up at the two boys to see them nodding.
"We could go to my house too if you don't want people at your house," Changkyun said.
"Why would I suggest it if I didn't want people there."
"Good point. Let's go."
