Sirius

James was nice enough, Sirius thought. Maybe they'd get closer throughout their years at Hogwarts.

Or maybe they'd end up as mortal enemies. Honestly Sirius wouldn't be surprised, the two were very similar.

"Firs' Years, o'er here!" Came a booming voice. Sirius looked toward it in surprise to see a man twice the size of a normal man. His feet were as big as trashcan lids and they were in very large black boots. (Obviously the boots were large, Sirius, what was he gonna do? Wear human sized boots when his feet are four times the size of your mother's? Sirius reprimanded himself.)

"Firs' years! Is this all of ya?" The man asked doing a quick head count. "Ah, good. Well, my name is Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. But you can all jus' call me Hagrid. FHA's what most students do. We'll be goin' o'er the lake terday, jus' so everyone's aware. Seems yet be gettin' a bit stormy but we should be fine if we're fas'."

Hagrid then led the group of First Years down to a large lake where a dozen boats were. "Three ter a boat!" He called before getting into a rather large one over to the side.

The first years scrambled to get with groups before getting in the boats.

Hagrid glanced back and made sure everyone was safely in a boat before pointing his pink umbrella toward the castle and muttering something. A spell, probably.

"Now, if anyone has any questions, you can come ter me. If I don't know the answer, go ter McGonagall. If she doesn' know the answer then yer prolly gon' never get one." Hagrid said.

Some kids laughed nervously.

"Ah, we're here." Hagrid said after a while longer. The boats gently hit the sand bank and the kids got out one by one.

"Righ' this way." Hagrid led the first years into what Sirius could only assume was the entrance hall.

"Now ye'll wait fer Professor McGonagall to come get yah and she'll explain from here." Hagrid said before leaving. The first years were quiet for a while and then they broke into quiet chatter.

"This is a little terrifying, don't you think Sirius?" James asked, staring at the door he must have guessed this McGonagall person was going to come out of.

"A little." The boys glanced at each other then laughed lightly. "I hope I get Gryffindor." Sirius said.

James smiled. "You will. I can tell."

Sirius raised his eyebrows at him.

James laughed. "Trust me. I can feel it."

Sirius shrugged.

At that moment a severe looking woman came out of the huge double doors. She wore emerald robes and had horn-rimmed glasses on. Her hair was up in a very tight bun.

"Welcome students." She said. She sounded like someone most people wouldn't want to cross. "I am Minerva McGonagall. I teach Transfiguration and am the second in command should anything happen to Professor Dumbledore. I am here now to explain to you the sorting. In a moment I will bring you into the Great Hall, you will stand in a line, and I will call your name. You will then come up to the stool and I will place the Sorting Hat on your head. The Hat will then decide what House you belong to. The houses are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin.
