Daylight by Matt and Kim echoed through my apartment. I was lucky to hear it over my very off-key singing in the shower. Forgetting everything I rushed to grab my phone, expecting it to be work. It was a nice surprise to see the name on the screen. “Well hello.” I smiled, holding the towel tight around myself. “You seem pleased to talk to me. I caught you at a good time?” Harry said. “I was just in the shower, singing incredibly bad and I heard my phone ringing and I thought it was going to be work but it’s not, so I’m very happy because I really do get my day off, off.” “I’m glad because I was wondering what you were doing today.” I smiled and bit my lip. “I was planning to sit around and eat fatty foods while watching movies but that can wait for another day. What do you have planned for me today?” He replied with “Well, Miss Grey I was wondering if you would do me the pleasure of accompanying me to the circus currently in town?” “Are you serious!? Yes!!” I cleared my voice and regained my calm “I mean, of course, Miss Grey would love to.” “I can basically hear you smiling,” he laughed, “Text me your address and I’ll pick you up as soon as I can get there.” “Will do! See you soon!” “Bye love!” He replied. “Wait! Harry! What do I wear?” I heard him laugh on the other end, “This is a serious question.” I said in a Kath & Kim voice. “Whatever you feel like. You’ll look stunning no matter what, love. I’ll see you soon.” With that, he hung up and I sent my address to him. “Now, is it dress or jean weather?” I asked myself.

“COMING!” I yelled towards the door. “IF IT’S MICHAEL FROM NEXT DOOR I DON’T WANT-“ I opened door to someone that definitely was not a thick 50-year-old man. “You don’t want what from Michael?” Harry laughed and pecked me on the cheek. “Let’s go!” I smiled and followed him out. “You look stunning by the way. Just like I said.” Harry told me.

I was sure that we looked out of place, two adults alone at a circus where the only other adults were parents with their children. “I know you have always liked the circus. That’s why I brought you here.” Harry whispered in my ear. I turned to him, confused. “How?” “I have my ways, aka Facebook.” He smiled and held another piece of fairy floss to my mouth. “What else do you know about me? You’ve got me interested now, Styles.” His eyes grinned. “Stick around and find out, Grey.” “Hey, being a teeny bit serious for a second. Do paparazzi follow you around?” I asked. “Yeah, sometimes. It’s not a problem really.” He shrugged it off. “What if they photograph us tonight? I feel under pressure to look amazing now.” I asked, eating another bit of cotton candy. “Then they’ll have pictures of me and you at the circus and if they get one now, they’ll have me feeding you cotton candy. I wouldn’t have it any other way.” He said sweetly. “Cheeeeeeese!” I yelled and I saw his white teeth as he laughed. “But you’re right because you’re just Harry to me.” I added and suddenly Harry was standing from where he sat opposite me, offering his hand out to me. “I know you love the teacup ride. C’mon.” He helped me up off the ground but didn’t let go of my hand. “Jesus my hands are tiny compared to yours!” I said causing Harry to laugh. “The way you say ‘Jesus’ really brings out your accent.” “Shut up, you love it.” I said pushing him slightly and running off excited to the ride, Harry not far behind.

“That’s a nice photo!” You say pointing to the photo Harry had took of you on his phone while spinning incredibly fast on the ride. “No way, this one is my favourite.” He said and slid across to a video that was you after being on the ride, unable to walk straight and laughing with him laughing in the background. “Delete it! Right now!” I said and began to reach for the phone. “I won’t post it anywhere! It’ll be for my eyes only, babe! Promise!” He said, still laughing. “Okay, I’m holding you to it. If I wake up and see it on twitter… I’ll send my army of 40-year-old Aussie Bogans after you.” He laughed at this and so did I, impressed at my humour. “C’mon, let’s get you home, love. Can’t have you freezing on me after only two dates.” He said and again offered me his hand off the bench we were sitting on. His arm placed around my shoulder, hugging me close and mine in his back pocket of his jeans as we walked under the stars back to his car.

“If this is going to be an awkward doorstep goodbye after a date, I’ll legit cry. They annoy me. Especially in movies.” I joked as Harry pulled up outside my house that is identical to the one next door. “Forgive me if it is.” He smiled and hopped out of the car, walking in front around to my side. “I’ve always wanted to live in a terrace house, you know?” I say randomly, thinking out loud. “I do now.” Harry replied so sweetly it almost killed me. He closed the car door behind me and we walked up the steps to the front door. For a moment we just stood there, looking at each other. “You said it wouldn’t be awkward!” I laughed loudly and playfully slapped him. “I’m sorry! I’m trying!” He said loudly and joined my laughing. “I’ll go inside now before it gets awkward like you said it wouldn’t be.” I began to rummage for my keys and unlocked the heavy wooden door. I had only taken one step when Harry’s strong arms were pulling me forcefully back towards him. Stumbling quite embarrassingly into him, I blushed. “Ooh, she’s blushing, you klutz.” He said, his arms holding me to his chest. “You couldn’t possible leave without a kiss, could you?” Harry’s face bent down towards mine as I stood up on my tip toes a bit. There were fireworks and electricity again, there was no denying it. “Goodnight, babe.” Was all he said as he walked down the steps and drove off.

I still remember that day. There’s a photo hanging on the wall that a nice man took of us with our fairy floss sticks. It’s so long ago.
