Chapter 29: No Awkwardness?

Ross's POV

"Hey Ross, How did your family take it?" Laura called and asked immediately after so answered.

"Well... They all freaked out and My mum had to save me. But I really feel bad tho, I saw Rydel's disappointed face before we stormed into her room. I really let them down."

😞I really did, I'm an idiot.

"Wow. I'm sure their not, don't be upset. It's just that their probably shocked at the news." She explained.

"....."

"Hey, they'll come around. Believe it or not, they still love you, no matter what," she comforted me.

"Okay. Thanks, you're aweso-" I was cut off by the doorbell ringing.

"Um, I gtg, I call you back?"

"Wait Dude Don't-"

"Bye."

I hung up and went to the door, immediately after I opened it, Vanessa came storming in with Liz, both looking furious and pushed me onto the sofa.

"What the Hell Dude?!? I was about to help you, and then you go and pull this stunt here?!?" Liz screamed at me.

"Ya! Talk!" Vanessa joined in.

"Well maybe I realized that Laura is better as a best friend, and that I like Maia? Why can't you guys respect that?" I replied.

I am honestly tired of being scolded cause of this, it's really not my fault.

I don't really have much of a choice here.

"Wow Ross Chill. And it is your fault, first you break her heart, then you do it again! You know, there's only so much ice-cream in the world here!!" Vanessa yelled at me.

All this commotion caused my whole family to come out of their rooms and watch us argue about this.

"But Laura's my best-friend, and we're not dating! Who cares who I date!?!" I yelled back.

My blood is boiling now, Angry at myself cause I can't say the truth.

"Why you little idiot. I recall you asking me to help you get Laura back a mere week ago, and then you decide,' oh! I'm in love with the girl who betrayed her'"Liz said sarcastically.

"Well it's not like I broke her heart! Why are you guys so upset?!?"

"It's not about breaking her heart, it's about the change dude!! No one can change this fast, not if you were really in love with her." Vanessa said.

"....."

"Maybe you really weren't at all." Liz ended.

"......"

"Guys Stop, it's his choice. We're just best friends." Laura said.

Everyone turned to Laura, who was panting at the doorway.

"But Laur, he-" Liz started.

"Liz, really. We're buddies, if he wants to date Maia, then let him."

"But Laurie it-" Vanessa started.

"Look, if he's happy, then I'm happy. We've moved on. So should you guys."

Laura walked towards me and helped me up.

"Thanks Laur." I whispered in her ear.

And she smiled back at me.

"Yo Dude sorry about earlier." Riker said.

"Ya, I mean, we can't like, get in the way of Love." Rocky said.

"It's not right." Rydel continued.

Ryland nodded.

I looked at my parents, who both smiled at me.

"So.... No awkwardness?" I asked, and everyone laughed.

"I guess so."

"Anyway I gtg, Ross, wow luckily I helped you. Or Liz would've smacked your face in."

"Haha Thanks"

"Hey Laura, I'll accompany you." Riker offered," anyway I need to take a walk too."

"Um Ok Sure!! Bye guys!!"

"Bye." I smiled.

But wait, Riker and Laura.

No.

Riaura cannot happen.
It just can't.
