the vampire diaries, season 3, episode 3

It had been a couple of days since the twins failed attempt to turn werewolves into hybrids like them and they had no clue where the hell they went wrong. Which was why they were now in Chicago, to see a witch they knew decades ago, a living one who would help them willingly. The twins and their younger sister Rebekah had spent some time in the windy city back in the 20's, spending the better part of it at the witch's speakeasy ━ where they had first encountered Stefan.

As they stepped out of the car onto the streets of the city and Klaus began speaking to Stefan, Athena slightly smiled, reminiscing the past as she looked at their surroundings. She had enjoyed her time there, especially because of prohibition which just made everything more exhilarating, breaking the law that didn't affect them and all. It was where the siblings slowly became themselves once more after the catastrophe in New Orleans which caused them to leave what had been their home for centuries.

"What are we doing here?" Stefan questioned, looking at the twins for an answer.

Klaus avoided answering the question and diverted the vampire's attention to his own time spent in the city when he was a ripper. "I know how much you loved it here. Bringing back memories of the good old ripper days?"

The Salvatore scoffed, "Blacked out most of them. A lot of blood, a lot of partying. The details are all a blur."

"Well, that is a crying shame. The details are what make it legend."  Klaus stated, as he exchanged a look with Athena, knowing exactly what had happened in the city with Stefan being compelled to forget it all. "Chicago was magical." He then added.

Stefan brushed off his words. "Yeah, well, I'll take your word for it. Like I said, I don't remember most of it." He said, wanting to know why they were in Chicago.

"Going to get down to business, then?"

"Why am I still with you? We had our fun, your hybrids failed. I mean don't you want to move on?" Stefan asked, annoyance seeping deep in his voice.

"Which is why we are here in the first place." Athena huffed, crossing her arms. "We're going to go see a witch we know. If anyone can help us with our hybrid problem, it's her."

Entering the old speakeasy, which now went by Gloria's bar, they noticed it was empty, not a single soul in sight. Which was weird because even though when it was midday, people would still come by to drink and dance long before the night came.
