They walked for 2 hours straight before the first pauze. Their condition was good although they weren’t totally in their best shape because of the events. A big stone looked very tempting and they told themselves to take a quick brake.Jason sat on the ground with his back against the rock while Thol climbed to the top. He liked adrenaline, but now it was because he wanted to have a good vision on the surroundings. Jason trew a water bottle to his friend.
-”I don’t see anything.”, Thol said.
-”What about taking a look at that book?”
-”Yeah, good idea”, Jason replied.
Thol jumped down. It was a fall of almost 10 feet, but somehow it felt right. He landed on his feet right next to Jason. That last one was a little confused.
-”Did you see what I just did?”
Jason just stared at him for a moment. Then he laughed loudly. Thol looked confused, but in a moment he was laughing too. They couldn’t stop laughing for 2 minutes straight. Because, and everybody knows what I am talking about, every time one of the boys stopped the other one made him laugh again. All the tension of the past 2 days was coming out. When they finally calmed down it was strangely quiet. Both looked at the same time at the book. Thol picked up the book and looked at the cover. It was a little dusty, but that was the only thing the cover ‘told’ him. He gave a fast look at Jason, who gestured with his head to open it. On the inside of the cover was a name written in green ink: Lou Kells. The first page was written is a language they couldn’t read, or at least not totally. Some words made somehow sense. They read the word spell a few times and the word finger was there too. Jason could read a few words that Bartholomew wasn’t able to read. However, it wasn’t enough to know what to do or say to activate it. The next few pages were some sort of grammarbook. It seemed like the girl was learning to master the language from the first page. The rest of the pages of the first half were more spells. Hundreds of them. The second half was a journal. It was written in French. Both knew a little french, because they both took french classes. Or at least they did. It started in a place called the Gray Room, almost 9 years ago. She wrote about how confused she was and that she missed her mommy. Apparently their house was exploded and she was conducted by strange people who did strange things with their hands. After that something was written but it was hard to read because it was french and the girl had been so young that she couldn’t write all that well. They browsed through the book. There was a word they both didn’t know how to translate: rève. It came by a lot. They lost their phones so they couldn't use a translator. They read a little more and apparently she was transferred to a more private room in the green zone. After a few more pages they stopped and packed up again.
