All the lies people tell just to cover up the truth, reveals it's self in the end. _Anonymous

It was the last period before recess and I was sitting in Chemistry class waiting for Ms. Sullivan to get our sitting partners sorted out.

Yesterday had been cool. My mom had made me tell her in detail how my first day went as she typed something on her MacBook.
I knew she wasn't paying attention but I continued anyway.

I concluded by telling her everything had gone well and that I was glad that I was finally back. Not completely false though.

I had come to school a bit early today to avoid some group of people I didn't want to meet in the hallway. I was in no mood for an irritating chit chat.

Dylan had texted to say she wasn't going to be in school early. She had to take the bus from Brooklyn where she lived with her family. So I was left all alone.

I had stayed at the library until the bell went off. I was just avoiding contact with people as much as I could.

The first period went quickly. I noticed Dylan walk into the class with a very familiar Asian girl.

Oh my God! Katie.

There was a huge difference between the Katie I knew 4 years ago and the present Katie.
She was more beautiful with her slant almond Asian eyes.
She had cut her hair to bob and wore black skinny jeans and jacket, dark purple lipstick and heavy eyeliner.

I thought only depressed people turned Gothic. What happened to her?

That was by the way. She had become taller and still had enviable legs and curves. I really missed her and felt ashamed for kicking her off my radar.

Dylan waved for me to join them; I looked away pretending to be deeply engrossed in what I was reading. I didn't want to face Katie. Not now.

I had managed to avoid them for the next classes. I could feel Katie staring at me from across the class. No doubt she recognized me.

Even with the blue contact lenses, dyed brunette hair, and Victoria's Secret model body. I couldn't hide my identity from my best friend. Or rather an ex-best friend I guess.

It was a few minutes before the bell for recess. Ms. Sullivan called out the pairs turns out I  had been paired with nosey Swan. Isabella Swan.

"We'll meet next class for your projects, for now, concentrate on not failing again," she said after calling out the names.

"See you next week". She carried her bag and left immediately the bell rang.

What a relief. I quickly packed my books into my Gucci bag and prepared to hurriedly leave before anyone had the opportunity to meet me.

"Why are you in such a hurry?"

I turned and half froze. Dylan was sitting on a table next to mine beside her was Katie.

"Uhmm. Nowhere". I lied.

"Well, that's good. Relax, we don't have classes till after recess." Dylan continued. " By the way, meet Katie Russel Lee, my best friend. Katie, Scarlet."

"Hi". I said tucking my hair behind my ear and looking at the ground. I couldn't look her in the face.

"Scarlet?" Katie said taking a closer look. "Do I know you from somewhere?"
