Max and I were both 18. We had one week left until our senior year was over. Then, we would be off to college together. Harvard. I wished so badly we could just go there now. Forget everything else. I had to tell my parents I was engaged. I wanted Max to be there, so I invited him over for brunch.
Max rang the doorbell. I opened it. We kissed.
“Are you ready?” I asked him.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” My parents came to the door, and invited him in. We snuck off to my room to hatch a plan.
“How are we supposed to tell them.”
“I don’t know, we ... um ... I know! I could ask your dad for his blessing, and then propose in front of your family!”
“That’s a great idea!” After that I slipped my ring off, handed it to Max, and we walked into the living room.
