(Y/N) POV

We were all currently locked up in a cell. Bars lined up against bars. Jacob is sitting on the metal bed at the far end, Tina stands leaning against the corner where stone meets bars. Newt is sat with his knees up, playing with his fingers. His eyes where glossed over where the tears of worry were threatening to full. Those creatures were his entire life and they had just been snatched from him. It was worse than murder.

I allowed myself to sit next to Newt, placing an arm around his shoulder. He grabbed my other hand in both of his, fiddling with my fingers, trying to keep himself occupied. His head rest against my shoulder of the arm around him.

"I am so sorry about your creatures, Mr. Scamander." Tina apologises.

"You should be," I snapped harshly. "We wouldn't be here if you had just understood that you were fired." I feel a squeeze on my hand. Newt lifts it up to place a soft kiss on my knuckles in an attempt to calm me.

"I truly am." Tina's eyes full of sorrow.

"I know." I sigh, resting my head on top of Newt's.

"Can someone please tell me what this obscurial-obscurius thing is? Please?" Jacob asks.

"There hasn't been one for centuries." Tina begins.

"I met one in Sudan three months ago." Newt continues to play with my fingers. "There used to be more of them but they still exist." We lifted out heads up as he explained. "Before wizards went underground, when we were still being hunted by Muggles, young wizards and witches sometimes tried to suppress their magic to avoid persecution." Newt interlaced his fingers with mine. "Instead of learning to harness or to control their powers, they developed what was called an Obscurus."

"Its an unstable, uncontrollable dark force that busts out and attacks... and then vanishes." Tina informs. "Obscurials can't survive long, can they?"

"There's no documented case of any obscurial surviving past the age of ten." Newt answers. "The one I met in Africa was eight when she..." he paused for a moment. "She was eight when she died."

"What are you telling me here, that senator Shaw was killed by a kid?" Jacob was very shocked by the news. We all nodded. Newt's eyes trained on the ground, worry and pain evident.

"Hey, its going to be ok." I take my hand from his and place it on his cheek, turning his head to look at me. Locking eyes, without realising the both of us had started leaning in.

"Up, on your feet!" A group of aurors entered and had interrupted. "Mr Graves wants to see you."

I planted a soft kiss on Newt's forehead in a sudden burst of confidence before we both got up and walked out of the cell with Tina. Jacob being left behind as a muggle.

"It was good to make your acquaintance, Jacob, and I hope you get your bakery." Newt called back as we were being dragged. Newt was sat on a chair in front of Graves who was on the other side of the table. Tina and I were stood behind Newt, wrists bound.

"You're an interesting man, Mr. Scamander." Graves leans forwards onto his forearms.

"Mr Graves." Tina steps forwards only to have him shake his head.

"You were thrown out of Hogwarts for endangering human life..."

"That was an accident." Newt says looking back at Tina and I, feeling more comfortable that way.

"With a beast. Yet one of your teachers argued strongly against your expulsion." Graves reads from the file. "What makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you?"
