𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 - 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲

It was Christmas Eve, the day of Tony Stark's party. Maddie, Wanda, and Natasha were talking about the dresses they would wear. "My dress will be red, with a green bow and green tights," Wanda said, smiling happily, "and I'm going to braid my hair. I'm leaving my nails black, though." Natasha made a face. "My dress is black and red. I'm not about to go out there looking like a Christmas tree." Maddie laughed and began to describe her dress. "Mine's short and red. Off the shoulder. I'm going with a red and gold theme. I don't know what I'm doing with my hair yet, but it'll probably have something to do with a braid. Also, I'm wearing flats, because the second I try to dance with heels on, I'll fall flat on my face."

Wanda laughed and agreed with her. Natasha looked at Maddie slyly. "You're going with Bucky, right?" She blushed and looked at the ground, a wild grin plastered on her face. "Of course." Wanda's eyes turned purple a little, but she said, "I'm happy for you two. I see how happy you make each other." Maddie looked up at her friend, a little surprised, but smiled at her. "Thanks."

Natasha stood. "The party's in an hour. We should probably all get ready." The other two got up as well and went to their rooms, preparing for the party.

Two minutes before the party started, Bucky knocked on Maddie's door. "Hey, are you ready yet?" Maddie slid her flats onto her feet and replied, "Just a second!" She dashed to the door and opened it. Bucky widened his eyes, which were turning bright turquoise (and a little hot pink). He was rendered speechless for a moment before saying, "Wow... you look beautiful." Maddie smiled, feeling herself turn pink. "Thanks. You look amazing, too." He kissed her on the cheek and she smiled more, then he extended his right elbow. Maddie took hold of it, allowing him to escort her to the party.

When they arrived, Tony was already on his fifth shot (unsurprisingly). Wanda was talking to Vision. Natasha and Clint were laughing and joking around. Steve was talking to a group of people, but when he saw Maddie and Bucky, he left the group to talk to them. "Hey, you two! Wow, Maddie, you look great." Maddie smiled. "Thanks." Bucky slid his arm around her waist. "Hey, she's mine, Rogers," he joked to his best friend. Maddie blushed again and Steve laughed. "I know, Buck."

They had fun at the party, and afterwards, Bucky whispered to Maddie, "Can we go to your room? I, um, I have a surprise." His eyes were starting to turn hazel. Maddie smirked at him. "What are you planning, Bucky Barnes?" Bucky gently grabbed her wrist and led her down the hall. "Something," he quipped, trying to cover up his nervousness.

When they reached Maddie's room, Bucky closed the door and Maddie sat on her bed. Daisy started wagging her tail, still not raising her head. Bucky took in a deep breath and pulled a long box out of his jacket pocket. Maddie glanced at the box, then back up at him, her eyebrows knitted together in confusion. Bucky handed her the box and murmured, "I got you this for your birthday, but I couldn't wait, and the party seemed like the right time to give it to you." Maddie gave him a small smile, still unsure what was going on, and opened the box. She widened her amber eyes and her lips parted in awe.

The gift was a beautiful heart necklace, turquoise in color. She looked up at him, smiling wider this time. "Buck, it's so... beautiful!" Bucky sat next to her. "I got turquoise because that's what color you see as love. I-!" Maddie cut him off with a kiss. When they broke apart, she murmured, "You're so sweet." Bucky blinked a couple times, his face (and irises) turning bright pink. Maddie giggled a little. "Are you okay?" Bucky breathed, "Yeah, I just... I can't believe someone as amazing as you could fall in love with me. Any guy would be lucky to have you, doll, and you chose me." He brushed a tendril of hair back from her face. "I'm the luckiest guy in the world." Maddie softly smiled at Bucky and wrapped her arms around him, laying her head on his chest and listening to his heart beat. He kissed the top of her head and she whispered, "I love you." Bucky smiled. "I love you t-!"

Daisy barked, making them both jump and Maddie fall off the bed. Bucky quickly helped her up and looked at the dog. "Ah, c'mon, Daisy. Maddie, are you okay?" She laughed, "Yeah, I fall a lot anyways. What's making Daisy bark?" Bucky approached the door slowly, placing his hand on the knob and swiftly swinging it open.
