"Okay. What was that? Who was that? How do you guys know each other? Is he the same Brian I think he is? The one from the trip? Your first crush?", Lisa began interrogating her as soon was Brian was out of earshot.
"Yes. And I just totally embarassed myself in front of him. If there was even the slightest bit of chance that he liked me, I'm sure it has gone away after that coversation. Why am I like this?", Amanda grumbled.
"What do you mean?", Lisa exclaimed. "He was totally into you. I think he likes you back. Why else would he be tolerating your word vomit and staring at you like a love sick puppy? Have a little confidence in yourself Mands. Tou should totally ask him out."
"Yeah right.", Amanda replied sarcastically. " I don't know about love sick. But he was definitely some kind of sick. And after what happened on graduation, I don't think I'll be able to handle the embaressment of being rejected again. Like ever again." She phisycally cringed as the memories of what happened during her garduation flodded back to her. She was the valedictorian and had to make a speech on the graduation day. She had never been happier. Graduating as the school valedictorian at the top of her class. What's more, she had just gotten her acceptance letter to Milestone University, her dream university a few days ago. She was over the moon. But one mistake ruined it all. She was sure that Kevin liked her. Everybody thought so. They always flirted and everybody else thought they were dating. But apparently he did not. He thought of her only as a friend, a little sister even. But she did not know that when she was making her speech. When she asked Kevin out in front of the whole school on graduation day only to get rejected.
"Aww. C'mon. Kevin was a douche. That will not happen again.", Lisa's words broght her back from her memories into the real world. "And besides, I think it's fate that the two of you met again. Maybe you are destined to be together? Who knows? So just take a chance."
"Love? Fate? Destiny? This are just words that create an illusion and cloud the reality. So I really don't need all that bullshit now. What I need to do now is focus on college and getting a job. Life is not a fairy tale where the girl always gets her prince charming.", Amanda said dejected.
"Ugghhhh. Live your life would you. One rejection is not the end of the world!"
"Well for me it is. Now let's stop talking about it. We have to get back. I have classes early tomorrow."
"Finneee. But just don't be too shocked when Brian asks you out. I have a feeling he will soon.", Lisa said. "Alright, alright. We'll see.", Amanda said as they headed back to their apartment.
