I feel nothing. My body doesn't feel like my body. Slowly but surely, I feel my body buzzing. The air around me is cool and crisp. I'm definitely dead. My eyes stay shut as I adjust to the things surrounding me.
"She's waking up," I hear a voice murmur. I blink my eyes open and see Cedric above me. His hair is messy, and he seems calm. I don't move right away. I stay still and realize my head in in his lap.
"Hey," he says. I'm alive? I bring my heavy head up and Cedric helps me sit up. We are on the train. Sage leans on the open door letting the fresh air in. I scoot closer to it and let the wind brush over my face. Sage watches me calmly. She finally moves and sits beside me.
"You almost died," she says to me. I touch my stomach and realize the blood on my clothes is dry and not wet. "I stitched you up," she informs me. "We weren't sure if you would wake up." I shut her up by wrapping my arms around her. My abdomen aches, but I ignore it.
"Thank you, for everything," I whisper. She laughs in my arm.
"We aren't done yet. This is just the beginning." I smile and we pull away. She stands up and Cedric sits down beside me.
"I should feel happy, shouldn't I?" I ask him. "I mean I escaped, and I don't have to get married." Cedric chuckles beside me.
"I guess you should be happy about those things, but it's not going to be easy letting go," he says referring to his brother. My heart clenches just thinking about him. "It's behind you now," he says. Time to move on.
"We're almost there. The track is ending soon." Cedric and I get to our feet and lean on the doors. We watch the green trees and lush greenery pass by. Who knew outside the city was all this? Suddenly the brakes cry out underneath the train and we all hold on to something. The train comes to a halt beside a large bush. I look at Sage and she hops off the train onto the grass. Cedric does the same and grabs my hands to help me down. I sit down and let one foot touch the ground and then the other. I look up at Cedric as he drops my hands. I hear rustling in the bushes beside me. I turn to Sage who has her hands on her hips. Four figures walk out of the large bush. I scan every one of them until the last one who is already looking at me. My eyes meet familiar green eyes and it's like the world stops. My lips part as I feel life filling my body. Kane. I let out a laugh and run towards him. He grins at me and lifts me into his arms. My brother. Tear stream down my face and he holds me tightly. "Finn?" I whisper. I feel his chest convulse and he sobs. I know right then and there my other brother is dead and there is nothing I can do. All I can do is hold on to Kane and pray that everything will be okay. I know what comes next will not be easy, but I know I am ready. I can feel the power course through my veins and strengthen me, but the vengeance that comes through brings me alive. Joanna, I'm coming for you.
