"How've you been?" I asked and immediately cursed myself for being so lame. But hey, I hadn't spoken to the guy in 3 years.
Cut me some slack.
"Fine, you?"
"I don't think you need an answer to that." He smiled slightly and the corners of my mouth twitched. I'd missed that smile.
Okay, I think it's time I explain Laurence to you.
Laurence and I had been cradle buddies, we'd known each other since we were a few months old. It's a lovely cliché story about how our parents knew each other and we became best friends forever.
Not that the forever part went very well.
Like I said to Sophie, when I stopped talking to Laurence I didn't stop noticing him. Nobody didn't notice Laurence. That would have been impossible.
Laurence King, Ainston High's notorious 'Bad Boy'. Known for sleeping with sluts and punching assholes when they deserved it.
The tattoos weren't a new thing.
"I don't think I need one either but I still want your answer." He smirked and I raised my eyebrows at him.
"Because you get everything you want?"
"That I do." His smirk was still present, my eyebrows still raised.
"I've been fine." He laughed as the bell rang and I picked my bag up from where I had dropped it on the floor before heading to Biology.
"You're following me." I said as he stuck with me.
"I sit behind you in Biology." I rolled my eyes and we walked in a comfortable silence through the halls.
I tried to ignore Krista's glare as I sat down in my assigned seat next to her.
"Gonna sleep with him too?" She whispered to me once class had started and Mr Rogers had put on some video.
"Krista, you know nothing." I whispered back, surprising myself by how calm I was.
"You keep saying that, Alex, but you forget. Everyone knows everything about you."
"Good to know." I focused on the video until a piece of paper hit the side of my head. I calmly unfolded it and took in the word in black ink.
Slut
Krista passed me note after note after note until I had around twenty folded squares that I had calmly unfolded and folded, adding them to my pile. Krista, obviously annoyed by my lack of care for her trick, shoved her hand in the air. Mr Rogers paused the video and asked her what she wanted.
"Alex has been passing me all these notes during the video." She gestured to the folded pieces of paper that now sat in front of her with a pained expression.
"And they're just...horrible." My jaw went slack and I stared in silence with everyone else as Mr Rogers came over to examine the pieces of paper.
"Alex, have you anything to say for yourself?" He gave me a stony glare and I stuttered.
"I-I- I didn't do that." He raised an eyebrow. "She wrote them to me, I- I didn't" I pleaded. The classroom was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
"I write in blue ink, Alex writes in black." Krista defended and I stared down at my black pen she had been using minutes before. It was true, she always wrote in blue.
"Miss Evans, with me please?" He said, picking up the notes and gesturing to the hallway and I followed him silently, catching a last look at Krista, a smirk present on her lips.
I flipped her off before following Mr Rigers again.
The second Mr Rogers took a right I knew where we were going, there was only one room down this corridor.
The Dean's Office.

"Miss Evans, please explain." Mr Long was a broad man and he seemed to tower above me in his mighty chair behind his desk. I gulped.
"I promise, I- I didn't write them. Sure that's my pen, but I didn't write them."
"Well, how would Miss Rios get hold of your pen?"
"By reaching over and taking it. She sits next to me, sir." I could only listen helplessly as he read them all aloud, pausing halfway through. at one that made me freeze just as much.
"Baby Killer?" He repeated and I felt a spark of hope, a way out, proof I didn't do it. But the spark died when I realized I'd have to say I was pregnant. I'd have to explain everything.
"What is this?" His voice held such rage I reconsidered. Would I rather face this rage or deal with telling him the truth. I shrugged, defeated.
What was I supposed to do?

When I saw my Mom's face at the reception through the Dean's window I felt like I was going to throw up.
What had I gotten myself into?
"Hello, Mrs Evans. Please, take a seat." I stared down at my lap, forcing the tears back from my eyes.
"What's going on?" She questioned, her voice shaking.
"I'm afraid I have no choice but to suspend your daughter, Mrs Evans. Today she was ratted out in class for passing vulgar notes to a fellow student, Krista Rios."
"Krista?" My Mom asked me and I met her eyes. I shrugged, and wiped the tear from my cheek.
"This one in particular caught our attention." He handed the baby killer one over and my Mom's face went white. "The protocol would be expulsion, but a student from Alexandra's Biology class came to me a few minutes before you arrived to agree with Alex's first story."
"What first story?" My Mom asked, still shocked.
"That Miss Rios wrote the notes herself using Alexandra's pen and was passing them to her during the video; then when Alexandra didn't react she told Mr Rogers Alexandra had written them."
"Is that true?" My Mom asked me and I nodded my head. "Mr Long, why would Alex call Krista a Baby Killer?"
"That is a mystery, one that Alexandra is not willing to enlighten us on."
"She has no reason to call Krista a Baby Killer, but Krista-"
"Mom, please." I begged and she turned to face me.
"Honey,-" I shook my head and she shut her mouth. "How long will Alex be suspended for?"
"Until Monday." It was Thursday. One day.
Is that it?
As we got up to leave I caught a glimpse of the paper in front of Mr Long. The word Expulsion had been crossed out and below it he was crossing out Two Week Suspension. He wrote One Day Suspension and looked up at me.
"Next time this happens, Alex, I want the truth." I nodded.
"Thank you." I said quietly before leaving after Mom.
She was silent to whole ride home, her knuckles turning white as she gripped the steering wheel.
"That was incredibly stupid." She said at last and in spite of myself I smiled.
"I know."
"I know who the person from your Biology class was." She said and I looked over at her.
"Who?"
"My, he has changed since I last saw him." She mused.
"Mom? Who was it?"
"Well, Laurence, of course."
