Uraraka sat on the edge of the building, legs dangling. She stared at the sky, the stars a beautiful wonder to her. It was past midnight, for sure, though she didn't know exactly what time it was. She was kind of hoping to fall asleep and go splat onto the ground beneath her, but the idea scared her awake.

Why was she up here? She saw Midoriya Izuku, Deku, her crush since first sight, admit that he was already into Todoroki. Todoroki, a guy! Not a girl and not Uraraka...

She was immediately off his list and it hurt her too much. It was the last straw. She'd already been thinking about offing herself for a while now, what with the money problems, the busy friends, the loneliness...

Overall, it was too much pressure for her to handle. Then she heard the rooftop door open and close while her body tensed.

"What are you doing up here?" Shoto inquired.

Ochako recognized the voice but couldn't believe it. It saddened her terribly that half of the reason she was up here followed her.

"It's not what it looks like—"

"No, it is what it looks like. I came up here to do the same thing."

The brown-haired girl looked over at him with her puffy red eyes only to watch him form ice around the doorknobs and remove his shoes. He proceeded to sit beside her.

"Why are you even up here?" The female asked.

"To jump." He answered simply. "Why do you want to die?"

The question caught Uraraka off guard, but she replied truthfully. "I have a— I had a crush on this guy... he's into another guy. And you should know about my family's money issue and stuff... everyone does."

"You- that's why? Is... there any more to that?"

"No... sorry, I know it's really—"

"You can get off the ledge and have some of my family's. We have money to spare if we have to spare anything."

"No, no, it's fine."

"You're about to jump from a rooftop over thirty-five feet tall. Even I don't think that counts as fine, and I'm being abused."

"Abused?" She tilted her head a tad.

"It's nothing. Let's just get this over with." Before he could move, though, the girl spoke again.

"Please? Why are you suicidal, pretty boy?"

The heterochromatic sighed. "It started with a quirk marriage between my parents. My father bought off my mother for her quirk so that together, he'd get the perfect child, or in other words, a kid with both of their quirks."

He looked up at the dark sky. "When I was born, he'd achieved that. He wanted me to surpass All Might, just like he couldn't, so he trained me himself since my quirk manifested, also isolating me from my older siblings... Anyways, the training turned into abuse. He'd already been abusing my mother, who had a mental break when I was six and poured boiling water on my face, leaving my scar."

He placed a hand on his left eye as Ochako stared at him in pity. "After that incident, she was sent to a mental hospital. She's been there for about a decade now."

"Endeavor apologized about a month ago, but old habits die hard, I guess. Once he got angry, training was the first thing to come up. Of course, he doesn't hit us as much, but the verbal abuse only got worse."

Upon hearing this, Uraraka felt bad for her classmate. She also felt quite invalidated. She thought that her reasons were stupid and selfish now. She remained silent.

"Why are we wasting time up here?" The half-haired boy questioned. "Why haven't you moved? If we're really gonna do this, might as well do it when no one's outside."

"... I'm scared, honestly." Ochako chuckled.

"Then you don't really want to die. There's still part of you that doesn't want to go just yet."

"Hm?"

"Isn't that why fear's there? Besides being a natural human emotion, it stops you from doing things that are potentially hazardous or plain stupid." Shoto told her. "You don't want to do this. There's money in my bedroom, you can have it. Momo can probably make some, too. You just have to ask for help. And Midoriya's not the only guy out there. You'll find someone."

"I guess that's a reasonable way to think of it. How did you know it was Deku, though?" Uraraka glanced at him again.

"It was written all over your face."

"... He likes you." She muttered.

"He does? Well, that's sad. I don't love anyone." Todoroki stated. "Not even myself."

Someone shook the knobs of the rooftop doors. The male looked down, smiling a tad. He said his goodbyes and scooted the tiniest bit closer...

"Wait, please—" Ochako started, but she was cut off by her own gasp as Todoroki pushed himself off.

Off he went, indeed. He wanted this. Shoto couldn't live anymore, and suddenly he was on the ground, completely numb, blacking out quickly.

Then the person began pounding on the doors, kicking them down within the following ten seconds.

"What's going on up here?!" Iida ran to Uraraka. "Uraraka, where did Todoroki go?! Why were you two up here?!"

"He-he's gone... down..." The girl spoke with a shaky voice, pointing off the ledge, at which Iida stared wide-eyed.

The blue-haired boy avoided looking directly down since he already had a good idea of what he would see. For now, he simply comforted his friend who was sobbing and clinging to him. His eyes formed tears as well.

After a few minutes, sirens could be heard from a distance. Someone else had called for an ambulance. As Tenya and Ochako had expected, Todoroki Shoto was announced dead on arrival.

It was a sad day for them all. Many mourned, many grieved, some were frantic and angry, but the heterochromatic male would always be remembered.

If only I could've... If only I...
