"THIS IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS." I had been complaining to Paul for at least an hour about going to Jacksonville for the weekend. He seemed a little at irritated about it, but he was trying to be supportive.
"Maybe it'll be good for you," he muttered, walking over and wrapping his arms around my waist securely. I had been stress-baking, so now his entire kitchen was filled with muffins, cupcakes, and pies alike.
"My mother has always been a selfish bitch."
"Not to Bella," he supplies, lifting an eyebrow. "Try to think of this as a way to repair your relationship with her." I grunted and rolled my eyes, turning around and burying my head in his chest.
"I hate when you say the right things," I grumble. Paul laughs heartily, kissing the top of my head.
"Alright, what do you say we bring this food over to Emily's. The boys will be really happy."
"Emily probably already made a buffet."
"When have you known any of us to deny more food?"
"Right again," I groan, slowly pulling myself away and tilting my head back to look up at him. "Damn you." His handsome grin shines down at me, and I huff. Balancing all of the trays and tins, I walk out of the house and toward my car.
Emily and Sam's house was just as full of noise and life as it always was. Jared and Jake had just gotten back from patrol, and Seth was bouncing around the living area like the little puppy he was. "Honey, I'm home!" I sang, entering the small home with Paul in my tow. "And I bring goodies!"
Emily quickly turns the corner, a smile on her face. "There she is!" Emily cheers, rushing over to help with the food before bringing me into a bone-crushing hug.
"Easy there Em, or you'll cut off all my oxygen," I tease.
"I'm just trying to get in all the hugs I can before you leave!"
"For two days, Emily, not a fucking year," I snort. I see Leah smirk as she steps to my side, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. Paul looks like he's about to protest when Leah cuts him off.
"Easy there, Tiger. You probably went four rounds with her last night." he turned a scarlet color in embarrassment, while I just laughed. "I get some time with my best friend before she's sent into the clutches of the Devil." I nod happily, pointing to her in agreement.
"See? At least someone gets it!"
"Wait, Jo, where are you going?" Kim calls out from her seat on the couch. Jared was wrapping her tightly in his arms.
"Jacksonville."
"Jacksonville?" Kim repeats, looking even more confused.
"I'm going to visit my mother for the weekend." Jared then let out a low whistle.
"How'd you get stuck with that shitty hand?"
"My father stacked the cards," I smirk sarcastically. "He didn't want Bella to go with that leech of her's." I saw Jared give an unimpressed shrug before turning back to dote on his imprint. I hadn't had much time to get to know Kim Conweller, but that might as well be because she never left Jared's side. Paul had had a riot when they first imprinted, giving Jared the same sort of taunting that we had received. But Kim was also much more demure and softspoken than most people that frequented Sam and Emily's house. She seemed like a sweet girl with a hard shell to crack; although, I did hear that she had been absolutely in love with Jared, even before he imprinted. Fate had a funny way of making things work.

My suitcase was packed and stored in my backseat; I waited in the living room with my father and Paul as we watched the game. Isabella was still holed up in her bedroom (I knew Edward was there; I could feel him) and she was waiting until the very last second where she had to come down. Of course, the moment she chose was when my father and Paul both began to yell at the game while I sat back and laughed.
When I first told my father that Paul and I had started dating, he looked incredibly smug. There was that classic, fatherly "I told you so" look on his face. Then, when Paul took me out for our first official date, my father loaded his shotgun. I'd never been more satisfied to be his daughter. And Paul had the decency to look concerned. Then, it became a rather usual thing for Paul to come over and watch the game with my dad and me on the nights where I slept here. "So, are we going or..." We all heard Isabella's voice drawl, turnigin our attention away from the screen.
"Yeah," I breathed out, not ready for the hour long drive to the airport and the 6-hour flight after that. Not to mention that I would be surrounded by her for the next 48 hours. "Sadly."
