After Jungkook saw his crush smiling his adorable boxy smile and hanging out with his friends, he felt his heart flutter at the sight. But then his own smile dropped, thinking about the harsh words he was forced to say aloud earlier that day. It was Jungkook's reality. It was harsh, but being what everyone calls him, a useless, ugly, runt. A mistake.
At least that's what he felt like he was from the amount of times it had been forced into his own mind day after day. Jungkook wished he could forget those words. He wished someone would say he was the opposite. But alas, knowing that it's his reality, he felt his heart clench and ache, with the sudden feeling of a chill incase his body.
"Being an omega really doesn't have any benefits..." Jungkook muttered under his breath and let out a sigh, which made his body ache more.
With one last look at Taehyung as Jungkook stood by the school gates, he turned to the direction of his house and left without a word. But he failed to feel the soft gaze from someone from the other end of the footpath. The brunette kept his head low to avoid seeing happy mates. To avoid the pain. To avoid the longing.
His eyes trailed on a small pebble he had been kicking earlier in the day, surprised that it was still on the path, not kicked off and on to the road next to him. Just small humming was coming from the brunette but soon that was drowned out by the sound of shoes hitting the path behind him, almost as if someone was running.
Jungkook moved to the side thinking it was a runner passing by. The omega's eyes still trailed on the small pebble but then shoes came into his vision. One he didn't recognize at first until he heard that comforting voice.
"Hey Kookie"
Jungkook stopped in his tracks when he heard the person's voice. Slowly he looked up to see the owner of such a deep, calming voice, which effectively made him feel safe.
"Taehyung?..W..What are you doing here? Isn't your house up that way?" Jungkook asked motioning with his hand to the way he just came.
"Well... I have time to kill and thought that I would walk with you to your house and check up on you since... you know, you bumped into me." Taehyung replied with a smile and started to walk.
"Oh...well I wouldn't want your reputation to look bad, since... our ranks and all..." Jungkook trailed off quietly near the end, feeling unsure of himself speaking his mind and walked along with the other.
"And who's to say I, Kim Taehyung, care about ranks? Hell I know you get called a runt, which is uncalled for if I'm being honest, you're still a part of the pack and well...you're still a person, along with your wolf. I wish I could do something." Taehyung felt full of confidence as he spoke but near the end doubted himself.
"Taehyung… thank you but.. there isn't much I can do. Not unless some miracle happened. Look, I appreciate that you want to help me, really I do, you don't know how much I do, but I'm always going to be the omega runt.. there isn't any way you could change my mind.." Jungkook muttered at the end but Taehyung heard it and let out a sigh.
"Then I'll try to, it'll be my personal mission to try to get you to believe that you aren't some runt as some people say, trust me, I'll have you believing me before my birthday." Taehyung laughed.
"You sure? Because your birthday is in less than five days, are you up for the challenge?" Jungkook asked with an eyebrow raised out of curiosity.
"I don't see why not?" Taehyung shrugged with a smirk.
"Okay then deal," the brunette put his hand out for the other to shake.
"Deal" Taehyung nodded and shook the others hand to seal the deal.
