*Harry’s POV*

I felt something on my face, and tried to slap it away – realizing a bit too late it was Louis’ hand, slapping me awake.

Thanks for that Tommo.

“Haz! Would you please get up already?! I’ve been trying to get you to wake up for five minutes now!”

“What happened?” I asked groggily, getting up from the uncomfortable position I’d been in.

“You fainted when you heard about Ivy, and the nurse said it was more from shock than anything else. But Ivy’s okay now Harry, she’s okay!”

Apparently – from the way Lou explained it anyway – Ivy had taken too many drugs, which caused heart failure; fortunately the doctors brought her back extremely fast, and there would be no permanent side effects.

I still found it a little bit creepy though – Ivy is raised from the dead!

Okay, so maybe it’s not really something to joke about, but no one has any idea how relieved I am she didn’t die –and not just because it was mostly my fault.

But because I really do care about her – I want her to get better, I want her to be happy – I want her to live her life to the full!

I put my head in my hands and sat there, reasoning with myself inside. I don’t know what made me kiss her, but I’d finally fallen for someone with a beautiful heart, and this is where it got me.

It would be easier if I were gay.

Yeah, right.

“Mate, since she’s not going to be conscious for a few hours, we’re going to go home and get some rest, okay? Niall’s going to stay here, of course, so don’t feel any pressure to stay.”

I stood up, relieved that we were going to leave.

“Thanks Zayn,” I said quietly, “I’m going to go and get in the car now.”

Before I left, I glimpsed through the room window and saw Niall sitting in a chair by Ivy’s bed, his face full of pain.

I winced, and I had to look away.

This was all my fault.

*Louis’ POV*

Thankfully, everything is a lot better now – it’s about 1am, and we’re all exhausted, so we’re going home.

Niall’s going to stay in the hospital and just be with Ivy – coming so close to losing her really made him think about how much she means to him, and how important she is.

I know we’re all pretty sad about what has happened, but Harry seems to be acting even stranger than I would expect – and he’s one of my best friends. I know him inside out.

“Psst! Harry!” I whispered to him while we were driving home: Harry was looking out the window, and he looked very… different to usual.

He looked at me warily.

“Yeah, Lou?”

“What’s wrong with you? I mean other than Ivy… is everything okay?”

He shook his head.

I looked around the car; Zayn didn’t seem to be paying any attention to our conversation, and Liam was driving, but I figured that maybe this wasn’t the time or place for us to have a deep talk.

“We’ll talk about it when we get home, alright Haz?”

But instead of the usual smile, he barely nodded, and returned to his enchanting task of looking out the window.

I really hope it’s nothing too serious.

*Harry’s POV*

We finally got home, and instantly Louis said his good nights – again – and then dragged me to his room, and sat cross-legged on the floor.

“Tell me right now, Harry Edward Styles, what happened?! You’re never like this!”

I looked him straight in the eye.

“I did something really awful Lou. Really bad…”

I drifted off, and bent my head. I couldn’t look at him while I told him.

“I kissed her this afternoon, at the beach. Twice.”

*Niall’s POV*

It killed me to see her like this, inside a hospital after fighting for her life.

She kept tossing and turning, dreaming unconsciously – according to the doctor, “dreams and visions of recent events are not uncommon for patients who suffer from drug overdose.”

I just hoped she wasn’t having nightmares.

Then she said something, and at first I thought she was awake, but then I realized she was just sleep talking.

At first I couldn’t make out her words, but then they became clearer.

“Harry… why are you here? Harry…”

I frowned. Why was she talking about Harry?

“What are you doing Harry? Don’t! No! Stop Harry! I have Niall!”

I could feel every bone in my body shake with rage as I came to the realization of what she was talking about.

Harry had tried to make a move on my girlfriend. The fucking bastard.

Shakily I scrawled out a note to Ivy,  just in case she woke up, saying there was something urgent I had to take care of.

And there was.

Harry.
