Bold is the Author (me) talking.

Y/n was in the car with Marinette and her family. It was silent. Almost uncomfortably silent.

"So um," the man said,"My name is Tom Dupain, and this is my wife, Sabine Cheng, you've already met our daughter Marinette,"

Marinette smiled and Y/n warmly.

Y/n felt expected to say something. (My entire life in any conversation).

"As I assume you know, my name is Y/n,"

Silence.

That was probably the wrong thing to say.

"Would you mind telling us about yourself?" Tom asked awkwardly. (It really feels like school now)

Y/n blanked.

"Well, I like reading, f/c, and um, never really met my parents, they abandoned me when I three,"

More uncomfortable silence.

Probably the wrong thing to say again.

For the rest of the car ride there was silence until they got to they bakery.

"Were here," Mr. Dupain said and turned off the car,"We run a bakery and we live upstairs,"

Y/n nodded and got out of the car.

Marinette opened the door and Y/n breathed in the smell of the bakery. It smelled drastically different from the orphanage. More like spices, than mold. It didn't smell like home.

Marinette lead Y/n upstairs to there actually house. She then lead her up another pair of stairs and pointed to a trap door saying,"Um this is my room if you need anything,"

Y/n nodded.

Marinette lead her to a door down the hall pointing at it.

"This will be your room," she said, fiddling with her purse.

Y/n awkwardly said thank you and Marinette left her to unpack.

Y/n walked in and saw a room the size of her old room, but with one bed, a closet, a desk and a comfortable chair near a corner with a small table near by.

In the other back corner there was a door, which apon further exploration, lead to a bathroom.

She settled, slightly uncomfortable on the bed.

It was my much larger than what she was used too.

She put her suit case carefully on the floor.

All the furniture was white the walls were a light blue as well was the chair.

Y/n went to the bathroom and stared at her reflection.

She looked less than excited.

She sighed and left the bathroom to unpack.

*timeskip*

Marinette knocks on het door slightly startling Y/n.

"Yes," Y/n asked.

"Um dinners ready," Marinette said.

Y/n walked downstairs with Marinette and saw that dinner was already made.

Y/n felt shame flow through her.

"I could've made dinner," she said and the family looked at her.

"Why dear?" Ms. Cheng asked.

"So I didn't have to trouble you," she said.

"Oh no, I shouldn't done that, stupid stupid stupid stupid-"

"You didn't trouble us, we love cooking," she said and Y/n stared at her in shock.

"Oh," Y/n said quietly.

She sat down, still feeling like she messed up, the family still glancing at her.

The dinner was silent, with occasional conversation.

As soon as everyone was done Y/n grabbed all the dishes and started washing them.

"What are you doing?" Mr. Dupain asked.

She looked at him.

"I'm cleaning the dishes, its only polite,"

"No its fine, me and my wife can clean, maybe you should get some sleep," he said slowly.

Y/n careful put the dishes down and nodded.

She walked to her room and layed on the bed. She didn't know what she was doing wrong.

Eventually, she feel asleep.
