Episode 13 (Encounter with KID)

KID silently followed Shiho. The place where she stopped was in front of the Men's restroom.

"Go inside. The person you are disguising right now is waiting for you."

KID was alarmed by Shiho's statement because the Shinichi he knew was a 7-year-old kid. Despite feeling skeptical, he entered the restroom.

To his surprise, the real Shinichi was waiting for him inside. If a stranger walked in right now, they would see two identical Shinichi.

"It's been a while. KID."

"Hey, Detective. What happened?

Did you finally return to your old body?"

"Yeah, I took the completed antidote. The person you just met was Haibara and she also took the antidote like me."

KID nodded his head with a smile as he finally grasped the situation.

"Ah~ So that's what happened.

Then why did you kindly invite me to the restroom instead of arresting me?"

"If I arrested you in my appearance, the police would freak out and cause all sorts of confusion. Also, I'll have to deal with the whole new problem of proving who the real Shinichi is."

KID winked at Shinichi

"This is why I love to disguise as you. Makes my life way easy ~

So now what? What do you plan on doing, Detective?

"I'll be generous and let you go free this time. Just give up and go home. I don't want to get involved with the press.

KID responded to Shinichi's offer with a troubled expression.

"I'm sorry but I can't do that. If I don't show up after sending out the notice, it will totally harm my reputation ~"

Shinichi was pissed and shouted

"What?! You Ba..."

"I'll see you again ~ Detective!"

After saying his quick farewell, KID threw a smokescreen and disappeared.

The whole restroom was now filled with smoke and only Shinichi's cough could be heard inside.

"Cough...Cough...KID you little..."

When Shinichi came out, curious Shiho ran towards him to find out what happened

"So, how did it go?"

"He's going to continue with his plan and steal the jewelry at 2 PM."

"Really? Looks like he is still stubborn as ever...Just Like someone I know."

Shinichi was annoyed by Shiho's smirky comment

"What? Are you talking about me?"

"Hmm? I never said it was you. Looks like someone's feeling guilty ~"

'Argh...I fell for her trick again.'

After exchanging some sarcastic comments with each other, they headed up to a restaurant to get some lunch. As time passed, it was 1:55 PM. 5 minutes before the KID's arrival.

While Shiho and Ran looked around the mall, Shinichi was guarding the jewelry on the 4th floor with Nakamori, Kogoro, and the police forces. While they were waiting for KID to appear, Shinichi thought for a second while observing the glass case.

'If I was KID, I'd probably disguise myself as one of the police officers...But who?'

At that moment, the bell rang signaling it was 2 PM. Then, Nakamori shouted to his officers.

"It's finally 2 PM, KID! Come out and show yourself!"

The moment he finished the sentence, the entire 4th floor turned dark after all the lights were turned off.

"Wh-What the hell? A Blackout?! We can't see anything!"

In the darkness, Shinichi heard someone running towards the emergency stair room, so he instinctively ran towards that sound. When he climbed up the stairs to the top floor, he found KID in his iconic white suit, preparing himself to take off with his hang-glider. Right next to him, there was a police costume like he predicted.

"Stop right there, KID!"

"Oh-Ho, Detective. I knew we would meet again."

"Where is the jewelry? Are you really going to steal it?"

KID waved his finger and replied

"Nope. Fortunately for you, this is not the jewelry that I was looking for.

Here, Catch!"

Kid caught Shinichi in surprise and tossed the jewelry to him. Using this as an opportunity for his escape, he took off to the sky with his hang-glider

"Damn it! I missed him again..."

Although Shinichi felt disappointed letting KID escape, he was at least relieved that the jewelry was recovered. Shinichi came down to the 4th floor and quietly returned the jewelry to Nakamori. Then all of sudden, he was swarmed by a huge crowd of cameras and reporters.

Shinichi was stunned by this situation as it was not safe for his identity to be revealed to the public at this moment. Thankfully, Shiho was not here with him. Then, the reporters began bombarding Shinichi with numerous questions.

"High School Detective, Kudo-Kun! What do you have to say about your surprise return and what is your impression on recovering the precious jewelry from KID?"

"Um...KID accidentally dropped the jewelry when he tried to escape, and that is how we recovered the jewelry. So, I guess I was lucky this time."

Shinichi was showered with more questions, but he replied with minimum details. However, Shinichi was taken by surprise when he heard the last question.

"This is my last question. Kudo-Kun, could you tell us how you spent your days while you were gone missing?"

Shinichi's face turned dark after hearing this question and with an uncomfortable voice, he replied, "No Comment" and left the scene.

'Oh, man...this is not good...'

Meanwhile, Ran and Shiho were watching Shinichi's live interview from a distance. When Ran heard Shinichi's "No Comment" reply, she asked Shiho with a confused face.

"Hey Miyano-San, why did Shinichi say, "No comment" instead of telling them you and Shinichi was in England all this time?"

Shiho replied to Ran's question with an innocent look as if she didn't know anything.

"Maybe he didn't want to share details of his personal life to the press?"

"Hmm...That makes sense."

Despite looking calm and composed, Shiho was equally terrified and startled by this situation.

'Baka. Why the heck did you accept the interview! How will you clean this mess...What would we do if THEY saw this...!"

As if Shiho predicted the future, there was one other person who took a keen interest in this surprise interview. In a secret location, a man was watching the T.V during his break time. This man wore a completely black outfit and wore black sunglasses.

It was VODKA.

When Vodka accidentally saw Shinichi in this interview, he was equally surprised.

'No way...How can this be? If I remember correctly, Aniki finished him off with the secret pills...'

At first, Vodka could not believe his eyes since he too believed that he was dead. But after confirming this young man on the T.V was the Detective that they met on that fateful night, he quickly called someone.

"H-hello...Aniki?"
