SERENITY.
If Alice had to use one word to describe how she felt when she was with Kol — it would be serene.
He made her feel as if she could conquer anything. As if they could run away together; somewhere far away. Away from New Orleans, his siblings and her father, who couldn't stand the fact that she was in love with Kol. As if it were crazy that she could make her own decisions at the age of eighteen.
Alice never planned on ceasing her love for Kol, though. She never planned on leaving his side, even after his secret was exposed to her. She loved every side of him, every secret he trusted her to keep and every moment shared between them.
So, to say she didn't expect it all to come to a screeching halt was an understatement.
It was a typical day in New Orleans — the sun was shining and people were out on their estates, conversing amongst themselves. The early 1800's were quite fun with the Mikaelson's around, and Alice had soaked up every moment of it.
Alice had planned to meet Kol in the garden that afternoon to discuss a few things, including her becoming a vampire. For a while before that, she had been begging him to turn her.
Kol kept pushing it off, claiming that it was too soon to make a decision like that. Plus, he wanted to make sure it was really what she wanted before they did anything. He knew he could never forgive himself if he turned her and regretted it.
Alice wanted to live a life like his, though. She wanted to have the choice of forever with him, and not grow old and pruny while he remained the exact same.
But, when she arrived in the garden at the exact time they had agreed upon, Kol was nowhere to be found. Instead, she saw his brother, Klaus, sitting alone on a bench, an angry look resting on his face.
"Klaus!" Alice called out to the man, walking over to where he was sitting. Klaus' head immediately snapped up, realizing that while he was busy "dealing" with Kol, he had completely forgotten about making up a lie to tell Alice. "Have you seen Kol? He agreed to meet me here." Alice explained, a worried expression on her face as Klaus stood up, meeting her gaze.
Klaus had two options in that moment: either tell her the truth, or allow her to be the next victim of one of his revenge plots against his brother. Klaus, of course, chose the most rational choice for himself.
"Yes, he informed me of that." Klaus replied shortly, causing Alice to raise an eyebrow slightly, surprised Kol would ever tell his brother anything he didn't want him to know. "He wanted me to give you something, I'll just be a moment." He added, turning around and walking into the small shed that had been built a few years back.
Alice stood in the grass, confusion still searing through her, while Klaus was busy pouring his own blood into a vile, unbeknownst to her.
Klaus came out of the shed a few moments later, holding out the vile to Alice.
"This is Kol's blood. Take it." Klaus stated firmly, watching as Alice widened her eyes, immediately taking it from his grip. "Kol wanted me to tell you that he will meet you in New York at the train station. He wants you to drink this and then... complete the cycle." He explained, knowing Alice would figure out what he meant by that.
"I thought he didn't want to turn me.." Alice trailed off, looking down at the vile in her hands as she spoke.
"He changed his mind. But, you must go. Quickly, before anyone notices you two are gone." Klaus stated, motioning to the house, where he knew Alice would have to gather her things.
Alice fell for Klaus' lie, not even thinking twice about it. Little did she know, Kol would be daggered in a coffin for the next century.
After she had completed the cycle and waited days for Kol in New York, she realized she had made a grave mistake.
In her mind, Kol had led her on, and now she was alone for eternity.
