Even with the light the cave was still dark. My eyes had adjusted a bit but still the dark was surprising to me. Austin on the other hand was more comfortable. He had been there longer than me obviously. The dark was still slowing me down, so I walked behind Austin. I wanted to break the silence that had settled between us. Also I needed answers.
"So where do we go now?" I questioned. Austin slowed down so we were walking next to each other. He looked to be about my age. Spiky black hair and small brown eyes. He looked at me.
"I don't know where we are to be honest." He said and laughed a bit. Great lost in the dark with a stranger. I rolled my eyes. This was frustrating. I was about to make some snarky comment when I decided I don't need someone hating me. Or maybe another person. I feel like people hated me. Or maybe I thought people hated me. Yeah. That was it. I thought people hated me. Woah something I remember. The darkness lifted a bit. I could walk faster. I straightened out. I felt almost happy.
"Is it me or did the room just get a bit lighter?" I asked Austin catching up. He smiled a bit at me.
"Not for me but it did for you which is good." He said. That's when I heard something running across the floor. It crossed my vision. A small black thing with a billion legs it seemed. I screamed and jumped behind Austin. This cave had just become a lot more scary.
