Chapters 9&10

Two weeks had passed since Ronald won his first badge. He and Ash were headed to the next town. With his first one on hand gained Ronald was confident that he would win another badge.

Charmander however was worried as were his other Pokémon. Once Ronald noticed this he just shook his head and laughed.

"Don't worry boy I won't use you" Ronald replied. He then patted his starter on the back. The fire type was relieved as his teammates looked over to their trainer. Ronald was trying to decide who he would pick. Ash was also deciding who to train.

While they were both trying to decide on Who to use. Ash's pidgeot,butterfree, Squirtle, and noctowl stepped up. He looked at them and asked. "Okay, so you four want to battle her?" "Alright then let's work on your moves," he replied

"Ronald I'll let you work out your strategy for the gym leader" he replied as he walked away. As he left another trainer rushed toward him. This made his Charmander jump in front of him.

"Hey I challenge you to a battle one on one what do you say?" she asked grinning. Her poke ball was already in her hand as she awaited his answer.

"Ok then send your Pokémon" Ronald replied eagerly for a challenge. She threw her poke ball and sent out her Pokémon. It was a small gray humanoid Pokémon "machop chop" it cried out. Charmander stepped up to battle as the machop went up to the field.

*Both of them rushed at each other at once. Charmander's fist sparks as machop's hand was stiff and straight both collided.* After a while both jumped back as Charmander released bolts of fire from his mouth. While this was going on Ash was busy training up.

The battle between Ronald and the unknown trainer raged on each one calling out attack after attack. Until both Pokémon collapsed immediately the female trainer ran towards her Pokémon.

"Come on girl let's get you healed up," she said giving the fighting type a revive.

Afterward, she took her to the nearest center. Ronald followed her to also heal up his Pokémon after returning him to his poke ball.

Ash had finished training and was getting lunch for himself and his partners. Once everyone was finished eating Ash stood up and cleared his throat.

"Everyone, as you all know you have learned several new moves. Whether those moves were learned through another Pokémon or through upgrading moves that you already had.

Or in the case of all of you learning the move naturally through experience," he said as he paused to think.

"One thing though what will we do when all of you are retired? Yes I know that is a weird question to ask. Do we even know what to expect once you all aren't allowed to fight anymore?" The 16-year-old just looked around as his Pokémon started to pair up afterward.

Meanwhile, at the Pokémon center, Ronald and the other trainer were waiting. "I guess we should train up a bit more. If our first major battle ended in a draw" she said to herself. Ronald only heard the second part of her speech as he tried to plan for the second gym.

"Ronald, Alayna your Pokémon are all healed up" nurse Joy called out. Both of them rushed up to take the Pokémon. Meanwhile, in a pallet town, Professor Oak was studying a sample that he took from Ronald's Charmander.

Ever since they first arrived a year ago he piqued his curiosity.

"Other than being knocked out your Pokémon seem to be fine," The nurse said calmly. Charmander was up and ready for another battle as soon as it was healed.

"Your Charmander seems to be very lively maybe you both want to take on The upcoming rookie cup?"

"The rookie cup never heard of it" Ronald replied as his Charmander yawned. As soon as he had asked, Nurse joy handed Ronald a pamphlet." A pamphlet OK thank you I'll go read it" He replied.
