Nature, the guardian of light, stood before me.
My mother.
"I don't understand..." I mumbled.
She rested her hand on my forehead.
"Is your head still hurting?" She asked.
"It doesn't hurt that much now," I replied.
She placed her hands on my shoulders and gave me a reassuring look.
"I know you have a lot to ask, Summer, but I believe you've exhausted yourself from using your powers. I suggest you have a change of clothes and rest in your room."
"But-"
"Ramone will guide you, my dear. I will meet you when you are ready."
I looked down at my soaked uggs and wet hoodie. Must've gotten wet when I was riding the Twinkling Sapphires.
"Shall we, Ms. Seasons?" Ramone asked.
I gave my mother one last glance before following Ramone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ramone led me up the spiral staircase and through a series of corridors before arriving in front of an oddly familiar door.
"Your room, Ms. Seasons. We have already prepared a change of clothes for you inside. Do ring us if you need anything," he smiled before bowing and leaving.
I took a deep breath and opened the door.
The first thing I noticed was this massive window on one side of the room, letting the sunlight through, making the room all warm and inviting. Sunlight shone onto this massive bed that was covered in what looked like the fluffiest and comfiest duvet and pillows. The bed looked like it belonged to royalty, with a gorgeous canopy draping over the bed frame, covered in twinkle lights. A dressing table sat across from the bed, various bottles of magical, pastel-coloured liquids and powders were placed on it.
This room didn't look like a guest room. It seemed new yet it felt like...
Home.
The pale orange walls were covered in pictures and I couldn't help but feel the warmth.
Who are these people? I took a closer look at one of the pictures with two girls laughing and hugging each other. They couldn't be more than four. They looked so drastically different. One had burnt orange hair, red eyes and wore a coral dress while the other had white hair, grey eyes and a flowy, white dress.
I walked towards the bed and noticed an outfit. I held it up in front of the full-length mirror adjacent to the dressing table.
It was a long, flowy lemon coloured maxi dress with shorts underneath. It looked like something fancy that would be worn to the beach with a sun hat. It had delicate spaghetti straps and little embroidered suns in the colour of gold at the hem of the skirt.
I slipped out of my clothes and put them on. I have never worn anything so elegant before. The dress fit me perfectly. I felt like a sun goddess and at the same time, comfortable. I found a pair of espadrilles by the door that were brown at the bottom and had white straps. I'm not someone who would often wear heels but these shoes gave me the height I needed, and it felt like I was wearing slippers.
I brushed my hair and smoothed it down. I've had this side part for as long as I could remember. I've never really bothered doing anything to my hair. I liked how its dark brown, wavy curls sat on my shoulders.
It felt nice to dress up. I usually just throw on a hoodie and a pair of shorts and I'm out the door. As nice as this was, the question remains.
Who am I, really?
Summer Seasons, keeper of Summer.
Just a while ago I was plain, old, ordinary me, Summer Ray, hanging out with my friends and messing around. Spending my days soaking up the sun and wondering if I was ever destined for more. I always felt like there was a part of me that was missing. I just never thought...
I shook my head and took a deep breath.
No, I must be strong. I have to figure out what all of this means.
Knock knock.
"Ms. Seasons, I'm here to escort you to your mother," said Ramone.
I opened the door.
Ramone was stunned as soon as he saw me. He looked proud. He wiped a tear from his eye as he exclaimed, "Why, Ms. Seasons, you look absolutely breathtaking! The dress fits you perfectly!".
"Thank you," I replied.
Maybe he was more than a butler. A family friend, perhaps?
"Your mother will be thrilled to see you, she is waiting in the garden."
I hope you have answers for me, mother.
